Default Am I not driving right? MT experts help

Well first of all, I just got my tranny replaced today (just after 1500 miles on ODO)
for the infamous 'throw-out bearing noise when releasing the clutch in neutural',
and it's still not fixed! Well anyway...

I've had my Z for a little over a month now, and this is my first MT car.
I'm a newbie MT driver, and I've noticed that when I'm driving in 1st and 2nd gear,
the car is pretty damn rattly.
Let's say I'm stuck on red light, and when I start the car to move, it rattles a lot, and sounds like some pinto lol
And I was thinking it's because I'm letting out the clutch too slowly while I'm gasing?
When I take off my car just rattles like crazy from the bottom, probably near
clutch area or tranny area.
Also, if it's not me I thought it had to so something with the throw-out bearing noise problem.

Does any of your cars do that when u go start moving in first gear?
Any advise would be appreciated.
I think that it's my driving...but I can't be 100% sure...
Maybe something's loose down there?

Also, it seems like my car clunks a lot in 1st gear...I guess I'm letting out the clutch too fast and not gasing enough?
Damn the 1st gear...

I have heard the Z is not so friendly to newcomers to MT but again the Z wasnt my first manual so I cant proof that. Even though I wasnt new to manuals the Z took me soem time to get used to its clutch. Is yours an 05? I had my previous 04 lemoned due to the tranny being replaced 4 times but never heard of 05's having issues. Good luck man.

Well mine's 05, and it's having EVERY single problems the Z's known for

My Z rattles throughout 1st gear until I shift to 2nd, then it settles down.
But I noticed that when I dump the clutch while I gas hard to accelerate fast, it did not make that rattling noise in 1st gear.
Am I letting go of the clutch too slowly while I'm gasing too hard???

are you about to stall when it rattles? If your not shifting fast enough or giving enough gas then the car starts shaking and rattling as your about to stall. If thats the case then i think its you not the car. The Z was my first MT but i caught on fast. The only time it would shake rattle and .... (lol) was when i didnt shift right and it was about to stall.

No I'm not about to stall. I know the rattling feeling when I'm about to stall.
Even if i release the clutch slowly and giving it enough gas it still rattles.
But I DO have the habit of not gasing it enough in 1st gear tho...well I guess I'll try it out tomorrow!

I noticed much smoother shifts when I changed to Redline MT-90 synthetic fluid. That is the one for high temps so if your not in scorching AZ, you could use the regular one.

Go to a Z gathering/meet and have someone test drive your Z. Then have one of them go along with you to see if your shifting properly.

put your car in N then check your RPMs it should be in the 750rpm range. make sure it NEVER goes below that when you're letting out the clutch. it sounds to me you're letting the RPMs drop to low. it will cause anything "car, truck, motorcycle," to rattle like that.

too low of RPMS 500ish wont stall the car however it will cause it to rattle.

on another note IMO the Z is an easy to drive manual car.

i'm not an MT expert, but i agree that it sounds like you are letting out the clutch
with too little gas. i used to do that all the time when learning to drive an MT.

the chatter / vibration you feel in the shifter is normal when the car is in neutral... when you push in the clutch pedal the noise goes away...

if you slip the clutch for too long the tranny will start to chatter as the clutch disc slips on the flywheel... this can also be because you have glazed over your flywheel / disc...

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that pretty much every Z has a rattle in neutral w/ the clutch out. The fact that you received a new tranny from that is shocking. That service department must not have read their very first Z service manual entitled "All sports cars do that." What's even more surprising is that the follow up service manual covers the very same topic in great detail......I believe the article was entitled, "Sorry, we could not replicate the problem."
