Can this be a Covered by my Warranty? I have a 05 Z with only 8300 miles and my brakes are sqeaking, So i want to fix it, But i was wondering if this covered?
I have this same problem and it's really pissing me off. I got my Z used and noticed the squealing right away during my test drive. I told the sales rep who sold it to me that I loved the car, but the squealing was a bit annoying. He then responded by saying it was normal because it had been raining recently and my car had been sitting in the lot for a while; essentially he said that I just needed to work the rust off and it would be fine.
To make my long story shorter, I took it back and they charged me to take a look at what was wrong and "fix" it, and yet it still squeals. I'm a bit frustrated with my dealer now, but I guess there's not much else I can do.
If it helps, I've been researching this for a bit and people say that Hawk HPS pads are a set of good pads to go with to minimalize the squealing. Hopefully you'll have better luck with your dealer, but thought I'd pass on my research in case you don't. Good Luck!

i have an 04 touring with 10,500 miles....the dealer charged me 65 bucks the "clean" the brakes, didnt help the first time......didnt help the second time......and they told me....."just bring it in again" Now i have a question, do they really think i have all this free f*ckin time on my hands? They know they should replace the rotors and pads!

Bring it by we can take a look...
The factory brake pads are squeeky... They are ceramic...
If your pads are unusually worn for yoru mailage we can take care of it under warranty for you...
If you like less dust and quiet pads we recomend different brake pads then the OEM>..
See you soon!

My brakes squeal at light braking but generally the more aggressive the stopping power of brakes, the more squeal you're going to have. I don't mind it because people that point it out don't know anything about cars any ways.

Ceramic pads squeak it is their nature, they also dust...
Race pads squeak like crazy if you attempt to drive them on your street... But, once you get them heated up to their best opperating tempreture they are quiet and bite hard...
Hawks dont squeak very much at all, but, they do not have the initial bite of pads like the NISMO... The NISMO Dont squeak at all but are more expensive, they dust a little more then the hawks...
The biggest difference between the Brembo and non is not braking distance, but resistance to brake fade... the non-brembo brakes will only last you a few laps on the track, if you modify the OE brakes (Non-Brembo and BREMBO) you can get more out of them before they start to fade... ie... better pads, motul rbf600 brake fluid, vented aero rotors...
But the brembo's in their factory state will give you more laps without brake fade (or more aggressive stops), and if you upgrade with the above, you can race on them and not worry as much about fade...
Upgrading to brakes like a Stop Tech Big Brake Kit will be even more resistant to brake fade...
braking distance will improve depending on your brake pads, rotors, etc... but dont expect to stop super fast with brembo's or stop tech... but a little bit of a shorter distance... the big difference is resistance to fade

My Brembos started squeaking recently (10K miles) and it may be just that they are getting to the end of their life. I'm thinking they squeal when getting thin and either aren't setting flush on the rotors or have one of those little noise generators in them that let you know they are getting thin. Of course, they have been on the track a few times. But they didn't squeal before.
Thanks for the info above, Jason. That's very helpful. I assume you also carry stock pads for the Brembo setup. I've been very happy with the stock pads, except for the dust, and will probably replace the pads with stock ones.
I've noted that the Brembo brakes DO NOT fade on the track, bite well when heated and generally feel right. You won't lose anything going to the Hawk pads, will you?
