Default And the Winner is.. imho

I have now test driven 6mt and auto versions of both the 350Z and the G35SC.

I can now state without a doubt that the 350Z is notably faster with more good'ole fashioned grunt than the G35SC. The ride in the Infiniti is smoother but only slightly.

I have been casing these two cars for quite a while now and this determination is the result of alot of reading, exploring and driving.

While I am not saying the Infiniti is a less suitable car for anyone, I am saying that it is much less suitable for me.

Please do yourself a favor and drive both you may find the truth yourself-- what ever it is.

Default auto vs mt

since you've had hands on with both (on both cars nonetheless) could you detail some of the differences you experienced?
--Thanks

The two cars feel very different. The actual differences can be seen on their respective websites. The power seat has up/down-tilt function. The sounds are the same. I had a chance to drive the G35SC in the rain and was very suprised to hear some sort of water sound. Like water running down a gutter coming from the right side or sun roof area. A big no-no. Powerwise there is no comparison! I would have assumed the two would be very close but it does not seem to be. Brakes are similar with the stock Inifinty brakes working as the 350Z did. The Infiniti Brembos seemed less efficient than the stock but they were not broken in and that can mean huge differences.

I was actually leaning toward the G35SC when an Infiniti dealer missed a scheduled appointment (1.5 hours to drive there) and really pissed me off. So The NISSAN is what I wanted originally, the Nissan drives better, handles better and So I must say NUTS TO INFINITI!

Default not really

If they were truely the same company then they would make the same exact car... they don't and they don't have the same type of dealer coverage and the dealers don't really care as much unless you are looking at a Q45 or that ugly freaking SUV they make. So to sum it up; of the last 25+/- cars I have owned, 75 percent have been Datsun/Nissans and all of those have been Z's save one nasty little 510 sedan. I would never **** on Nissan and thought that Infiniti might be a viable option for me but I was mistaken so Infiniti earned the Monkey!

btw - had my Z for a week now- Love it!

Infiniti is a BRAND.
Nissan is a BRAND.
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. is a COMPANY.
Infiniti and Nissan are brands of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

So what if the brands are owned by the same company? Lamborghini and Audi are the same company as Volkswagen. Aston Martin and Jaguar are brands of Ford. But every experience you will have with any of these, from the dealers to the vehicles themselves will be different. Yes, Nissan spawned the Infiniti brand like Toyota spawned Lexus, but many Lexus owners would never buy a Toyota. That's why branding is used, so that one company can reach different markets.

So IMHO it is perfectly valid to "pee on" Infiniti and still love Nissan, or vice versa. The cars and customer experience can be very different.

Default cat, monkey, wtf?

Funny, I always thought it was a squirrel...
Can someone settle this inconsequential difference of opinion on what animal is is actually peeing on something?

The best analogy I can come up with for the differences between the Z and the G35 Coupe is the Z runs like a scalded dog and the G35 justs ***** and gets. Both are great cars but where the Z is beats the G35 in performance the G35 makes up the difference in refinment. Both are great cars and the differences aren't much, but there is a differnce. If I was using my Z as a daily driver it would be a G35 coupe not a Z. If I wanted a weekend warrior I'd take the Z, which I did.

Thanks z350z--

A voice of reason in a semantic subterfuge gone horribly wrong.

If I used the term company wrongly I apologize. I think of Nissan and Infiniti the same way I think of Ford and Jaguar or Chrysler and Mercedes Benz or even MINI and BMW.

These companies Market very different cars of various quality levels. Or should I say Subsidiaries...

I will say that if the 350Z did not exist, I would be driving a G35SC. The pissing monkey was more a slam on certain dealer in the Atlanta area. Search my posts for the name.

Once Again, I hope I have not offended too many people with my off color pissing monkey and my improper use of some business terms.

I agree. Both are excellent cars, and I'd be happy to have either; however, the Z is more suitable for me.

I do think that the G35C has nicer looking wheels than the Z (with the exception of the track wheels)

Hmm, actually I think that Nissan and Infiniti are pretty much the same thing. The monkey may be pissing on just one, but some droplets definitely hit the other.

I never thought it was anything other than a monkey.
