Funny thing is I'm here in Northern VA and haven't had front plates on my Z
since I bought about four months ago. The dealer asked if I wanted them to
drill the holes and I said no. They said if I had any problems to just swing by
and they would drill them.

Ride by police cars all the time and I know they see it's not there but they
never look twice. Maybe you just look suspicious... ha ha! Just kidding... I'll
sign the petition though.

No front plates on mine. I drive all over Houston and cops never bother pulling me over for just the front plates. Speeding yes but not the plates. ALTHOUGH there is this one young asian cop on HPD that gave me a ticket twice already in about a 12-14 month span. He's in the metro area so I guess I'm just unlucky when he see's me. Most other HPD and even state PD seem very cool about it and don't mind even after they pull you over for other violations. Usually just get the "hey drive safe... I would hate to see something happen to this nice car" Those guys are very cool in my book.

New Jersey Cops WILL hassle you about it.....Here in suburbia, they get so MF bored in between their frequent trips to Dunkin Donuts and the Massage Parlors, they look for stupid stuff, just so can make their daily ticket quota!

You gotta come out to the chik-fil-a by Lowes on Friday night. It's a great show. I haven't had a front plate on my car for over a year now, and I've not been stopped yet...Of course, I don't think the missing plate is what they notice:

sorry for the OT....

I've already signed the petition, but as John pointed out, they'll never change this. They know it's a lame law and there's no point in a front plate, but it's an easy revenue stream, so why abolish it?

Thank you! I've actually reached the point where I'm about done modding this baby. Just some little interior touches now its about all that's left.

Wrong. There is a reason. It is easier to get the license plate of a car that just commited a crime if it is on the front and the back. If you don't like it, move to a state that doesn't have that law. I see more states adopting that law and doubt any will ever remove it.

In California, the law is that police will not pull you over just for a front plate missing, but they are allowed to add it if they cite you for anything else.

I, too, think the chances of overturning this law are slim, unfortunately. Its main use now is to identify cars when they get caught on a red-light camera.

LOL so true. One time while i was driving in Matawan a cop pulled me over for 'looking lost'. He told me i looked suspicious and i told him i lived like 5 minutes from here. He told me to drive away and i STILL don't know why he pulled me over. Boy i wanted to smack him. Stupid NJ cops...
