I don't go there much, only when I need DIY advice.

Rides bumpy and noisey. OK, I will not argue this one. All we need is softer springs and shocks and 100 pounds of insulation. But then again, it would be as slow as a maxima and handle like a maxima without the room for the child seat. Geez, whoda thunk it.
Don't put much stock in a bunch of punks on Maxima.org who slam the Z. I own a Max and am a member there and I wouldn't say their opinions are representative of most Nissan and/or Maxima owners.
Personally I like both the Z and the Maxima. They're in totally different classes, why bother trying to compare even? They're both great cars for what they were intended to be. I leave it at that.

I thought about getting a Maxima as a beater, but decided that I don't have kids. Seriously, I doubt you see many folks compliment their cars than ours. Frankly, I don't care what others say positive, or negative. The more you hear, the more you head explode.
Anyone in their right mind who would choose anything made by Pontiac OVER a Nissan has MAD issues.
I'm a Pharma Sales Rep and previously had a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix SE (All Pharma companies usually only allow reps to order American cars, unfortunately).
The gas tank actually had to be re-fitted after about 1500 miles (I kept smelling fuel when the car was parked and ignition turned off....Thank God, I got it checked out and fixed!)
The interior was a f*ckin joke....SUPER CHEAP bargain basement plastic ...I mean really bad, as in plastic breaking from stress after repeated use.
Tell the Maxima guy to buy a 2006 Pontiac Solstice and or better yet...a used Fiero...LOL

Those were the worst arguments, facts, and expectations I have ever heard. For the most part, most of them don't know the first thing when it comes to performance and price for performance. I hate to say it but jealousy was tainted all over that thread...

The Maxima is a nice vehicle, if you like 4 door family oriented vehicles. I think it looks nice and performs pretty good. It's a sedan, not a sports car, of course the interior is going to be a little more on the classier side. Take a ride in the Lotus Elise if you think the Z's interior is bad.
The Maxima is not as fast and it doesn't handle as well as the Z. To each his own. If you want to start slamming, start on the freaking Neon SRTs'.

Gotta love that thread. That place is full of arrogant, egotistical, e-thuggin, knowledgeless retards..... I have been there over 2 years now and it has taken an absolute dump. For the most part everyone on that board wants or has bought a Z or G. Its the small few that make that place the crap hole that it is.

GTO is actually cheap Australian interior. And although it sure is crap, its far better put together than an American car

Although I think any car vs car argument is pointless, it is entertaining reading
Maximas are great cars, I've had 2 (a 97' SE 5-speed, and an '03 SE 6-speed). I also know what they are not. Who cares, let them talk junk. It's the same dance... owners of family cars defending their purchases and trying to convince themselves they drive a cool car. *shrug*
We just went from a 03 350Z touring to an 05 Maxima and love it. Both are beautiful cars but the Maxima is so much more practical for us. I also like the extra "things" that my 350Z didnt have.
We own both. My wife has an '05 Maxima SE 6-speed, and I have an '04.5 Z roadster.
Z is faster-slightly, but noticeably
Z handles better by a WIDE margin
Z has much sharper steering
Z has no torque steer of which the Maxima has a LOT making the 265 hp/255lb-ft torque difficult to use
MAX has a very luxurious interior and gives away little to Infiniti
MAX sound system blows the doors of most anything I have heard
MAX is obviously more practical
Obviously, however, these are two different cars for two very different purposes. Comparing them is meaningless. A Maxima owner bashing a Z shows only one thing.....JEALOUSY....and everyone knows it.
