![Thumbs down](https://my350z.com/forum/images/icons/icon13.gif)
I just picked up the local paper at lunch for something to look at and I started thumbing through the auto section.
I found a Chicago suburban Nissan dealer (remaining nameless) that had large add and I saw a 350Z Touring 6MT advertised. The add had written in bold letters (of course), "Buy for $459.99 for 60 months! With no money down! Save thousands!" So, I got to thinking that it was a pretty low number and I did the math. The total came to $27,599.40 after 5 years, so I immediately went looking for the fine print, figuring something was seriously up here. There at the bottom in VERY small lettering read: "...Balloon payments... 350Z: $14,100 after 60 mos." GEEZ!!! Where's the thousands saved??? lol
Let the buyer beware...

With a 33k price tag (approx. MSRP for the car)
No money down
5% interest
5 year term
Monthly payment = $622.75
That's what you should pay with a regular loan at a low interest rate with no down payment and a 5 year term.
The total payment is $37,365 for 60 months at $622.75 a month.
That's about 4k LESS than their super sweet deal that saves you thousands.
How about at 9%?
$685.03/month for 60 months = $41,101.80
THAT figure is close to what they come up with after the balloon is added in. And 9% is AWFUL. That's a real jagging...
(tax, title, doc fee, etc. were NOT included in their add, and so they'd be added to their price)

well not 9%, but our guy kinda tried to fool us, we were ready to do the balloon payment(my parents liked the idea, whatever...) then they realized the balloon payment had 7.5% interest not 5.5 on a regular loan. we went with a regular loan. but I mean we didnt know untill he handed over the papers to sign, had we not read the fine print...
owell.
owell.

I think the car industry should be monitored like the security industry. Hey no investment firm can print false adds or give false information.
Why is it that car dealers are allowed to be theving bastards? Makes you wonder.

Plenty of companies advertise exactly what they have at exactly what it would cost the customer and they sell plenty of their product.

My working theory on car dealers is they are all lying, cheating scumbags who will rot in in a hot place. I suppose there are exceptions; I've just never found one.
