But I'm 25k Miles and it don't feel like it's getting better. it still shift rough and a loud clunking sound, not only the first 10 minutes, but almost everytime, do you guys think I have a problem on my tranny

I think it's normal, I've been told it's normal, a bunch of people on the Santa Barbara cruise said "oh yeah, everyone has that."

It's probably just clutch / flywheel chatter, nothing to be concerned about. It would get worse if you got a really lightweight flywheel I think.

the car doesn't just shift rough, the car runs rough everytime when it makes a clunking sound my car feels like it's almost stop. it hard to explain, you won't feel the car is smooth. Is that how it is with you guys car?? what did you guys do to make it better to drive??

I think it has to do witht he poor syncro design. I used Royal purple and it helped for like 2 days then its back to normal again. now im just trying to get use to it and maybe i'll forget about it, but yeah, it does make the drive less enjoyable.

+1, I've noticed it too. It's chatter.

When you say it runs rough, do you mean it sputters? Or do you mean it sort of hesitates when you shift into second? If I shift at lower RPM's like in normal driving there is sort of a jerkiness because I'm shifting at lower RPMs and that flywheels feels like it weighs 100 pounds, . Is that what you are feeling though?

I had the same problem until I started shifting at a higher RPM (3 to 3.5K) which seemed to smooth it out some.

I wonder if a lighter flywheel would excaberate the problem??? Seems to me a lower mass flywheel would smooth it out some.

I'm going to be installing an ATC clutch and lightweight flywheel when the FI goes in so I'll report back.

I had a similar problem, only it was shifting into 5th and 6th. It was a grinding noise, almost like I wasnt using the clutch. It started happening at 10K miles, and it did it only in low rpm's (3000-). When my car went in for the alignment recall, I told the shop about the grinding, and they said they would "look into it". I get a phonecall a few days later, and apparently they actually tried to "look into it", and they werent just saying that (this dealership is good, bought the car there too, 100% satisfied with everything.... its near West Chester, PA). They told me that they were going to install a completely new transmission, clutch, and clutch pedal (don't know why the old one had to go, maybe new clutch new pedal design?). So what happened was the mechanic took the car for a drive to see the grinding, and about a mile away from the shop, the gears completely locked up, and they couldnt even take it out of 6th gear. Long story short, they tow it back to the shop, replace all that stuff, Nissan gets a bill for $2800, and the new tranny seems to kick ***.

Oh, and another thing. I assumed the tranny would cost a lot (at least $3000), but on the parts list it was around $1100. That seemed really low to me, but that's what it was.

Besides the 615 posts here

…this is the first time that I’ve heard about the problem.
