Default Damn the haters...my Z got KEYED

I've read quite a few stories of people's Zs getting keyed here...
And I always thought to myself that can't happen to me...
and guess what, it DID

Some *** keyed my driver side door last night, IN MY APT PARKING LOT
I came out this morning to go to work and when I saw my car I was like wtf
There was an about 6 inch long key mark on the door.
Man was I damn pissed...

I just couldn't believe that it would happen in my own parking lot...
Just makes me wish I lived in a house with a garage for my Z.
I bet it was some jealous mfer who did this..
Damn the haters...seems like the Z attracts a lot of them =(

I need your help/opinion on fixing this key mark.
I haven't got a chance to take a pic of it so I will briefly describe it.
Like mentioned above the key mark is around 6 inches long...luckily
the key mark isn't that deep. It only scraped the paint out.
I'm trying to go cheapest and effective way as possible.
My friends told me there's this thing that you can use to brush it out, which
is sold at Pep Boys.
I'm also looking at some fill in tips with clearcoat.
Anyone used products like this before?
If things do not work out I just plan to paint the whole door.

Sorry dude. I had my Z keyed in Miami last November on the very last night that my Z was in Miami too. The next day, the Z had to be shipped all keyed.

Well I know how you feel but hey it will be over in a few days after it gets fixed. No worries. Sorry dude.

Seems to happen to cars that are a bit unique or "stick out" in a crowd - 350's, Corvettes, Porsches, anything that is not run of the mill. Bet they didn't look twice at that POS that was parked next to you. It's an envy issue with these punks: They can't afford something nice to drive so why should you be so lucky?

Hey! I just had an idea! Stick-on key scratches! Put one on your door and they'll think you already got tagged and they'll pass you by.

I feel for you, man. Go get it fixed and forget about it.

ahhh no good man, sorry to hear

just rush out and get it fixed, a respray will do......with things like that its worse stressing over it then forking over the cash to fix it

i coped a beauty stone chip on my bonnet only weeks after getting my Z, left a couple dents too. Next day dropped it off and had the whole bonnet resprayed, sucked it up and handed over the cash

bonnet before =

Why guess at what will and what will not work? Why risk making the damage worse? Take it to a professional.

Ah im sorry to hear this. Mine was keyed on the drivers door as well about a month ago, and it was down to the bare metal unfortunately. Ended up having to get the door resprayed and 400 bucks out of the wallet. First id recommend you take it to a pro bodyshop, just to get an estimate anyway. If its not to the metal, you are lucky and could get away with some touch-up work.

fork the money and have it resprayed...just one panel at least!

note: make SURE to use PPG paint, dupont is TERRIBLE at paint matching to OEM

Does your apt overlook your parking lot? I'm in the process of adding a wireless web cam to my wireless network to watch over my baby at night. I have all the pieces but have been traveling too much to hook it up. Seems a small price to pay to be able to catch anyone that touches my car.

That is a good idea! Only downfall is it would be annoying to put on every night... even a vinyl one.

If you live in a high risk area I would just setup a motion sesitive camera. That way if something happens you don't have hours of video to go through and you save on tape or bandwidth.

No...unfortunately I live in an apt with over 200 units and my parking lot is
totally blocked from my view=(
What you said sounds like a good idea, but I don't think I can make use of it.

I'm thinking about installing the Viper alarm system..would that help???

rub your finger nail acros the key mark, if you can feel the mark with your nail, then most likely it will need some body work, if not, there is a good chance you get buff it out with some mild polishing compound.
