You are not supposed to rev it over 4000 rpm for the first 1200 miles (I'm at 1176 on mine and my lead foot is twitching with anticipation)

What does your owner's manual say about the break-in period?

anyone ever bought a brand new M3? the computer limits how high you can rev for the first 1500 miles....it slowly lets you rev higher and higher as you collect miles...and at around 1500miles, you have to take it back to the dealership so they can get the limiter off....

90% of time...I dont take it over 2500-3000 rpms. Saves fuel and reduces chances of something breaking..but occassionally, I rip through the gears with a grin carved on my face.

I'm not sure if this has been posted here before, or if anybody has seen this, but it's a very interesting read.

One question for you guys:
When buying a Z, and it has ~ 20 miles on it..you *know* someone took it for a test drive. Also, Nissan dealers don't give a ****, and anyone who test drives the Z will floor the hell out of it on the test drive.
So if i want to buy one...there's no way of telling if it has been abused and i'm SOL unless i just buy a freshly delivered one right?

Man...that's why i like subaru around my area..they *will not* let you pass 4K RPM...i kinda wish others were like that too...or, get a Demo car and let ppl test drive it, not a car that someone will later end up buying.

So any tips?
I'm looking into one soon, dunno if i'll wait for the '06...

Thanks

I get very smooth shifting at 2500 to 3000 rpm. I now frequently shift 1-3-5 for ease of shifting. That's what I love about the Z - get to shift - dont understand why people want an automatic. Approaching an off ram on a freeway I will start slowing from 6o 0r 65 in advance, then at about 50 I will put it into 5th . Anyone following usually starts bacing of - because they havent seen any brake lights! Again I pull it down into 4th without braking before hitting the red light ahead.

Who do you want to believe? The people who build your car or some guy on the net?

Owners manual = your friend
