Great Article on the 2006 Z
Thought I would share this article reviewing the 2006 Z.

I thought this guy had a clue until I read his review of the 5AT. My 5AT is very crisp shifting in manual mode and never shifts when it wants to in full auto mode. It shifts according to my right foot and acceleration. It's obvious that he did not drive the 5at properly. And 6 seconds to 0-60 ? My 5at does 0-60 in 5.4 to 5.5 seconds all day long. I claim BS to this reviewer.
Not a thoro and good review IMHO.
Oh yeah, F him for labeling me a "poser". He doesn't know me

i had a 5AT Z before my 6MT and I did feel kinda like a wannabe when using manual shift mode and really decided that keeping it in Drive mode overall seemed the fastest anyway. It wasn't slow though. Hell in more ways than not probably in daily traffic, it's probably faster than the 6MT. The 5AT would always downshift everytime you floored it. With the 6MT, I sometimes don't bother to downshift and just stay in the current gear and floor it which isn't as fast as putting in the effort to downshift

I guess the review is alright. The only thing I question is the part about the 5AT. The poser comment wasn't very professional and where did he get his 6.0 time from? Even 5.6 is slow for a skilled driver in either the 6MT or 5AT. So far, the only people I've found that say the 5AT isn't a crisp shifter are the ones that don't shift it right in manual mode. Shifting the 5AT in manual mode is opposite of what you would normally do in the 6MT. Shifting the 5AT like the 6MT will result in slow, sloppy shifts.

Downshifts are a little different because they are semi-managed. The computer will not let you stall or significantly overrev. If you are going to stall, the 5AT will automatically downshift for you. If your shift will cause you to go way over the rev limiter it may delay or cancel your shift. When you are stopped or going very slow the 5AT will default to first. Other than those conditions you can downshift anytime you want.
The 5AT is also driver and environmental adaptive. It is a learning transmission. The more you use it the more it becomes attuned to you. In the 6MT the driver tries to control the transmission. In the 5AT, the transmission becomes an extension of the driver.
