Default Z's under list more common

Starting to see more and more Z's show up for sub-MSRP prices. First, the MN dealer, then the one in MI. Now, there is a dealer in St Louis, MO posting over on zcar.com. (all states starting with M? )

I've just about lost my will to resist If only one of these would be a Performance model. Seems like those are rare.

I'm talking myself into a touring with the prices I've been seeing. That would stop me worring about putting in leather later...

Chevy makes about 30,000 Vetts a year. Nissan is going to produce about 30,000 Z's a year. New Vetts can be had for up to 5,000 off msrp with 0% interest. How long do you think it's going to take until you can get a similar deal on a 350Z??

I give it another six months and they will be heavly discounted!!

It's all a matter of desirability and supply/demand.
At one time, you were paying way over MSRP to get a Vette, and you will still pay over sticker for a Z06.
You can get a Vette for 0% and under MSRP cause thay are not selling as fast as they have before, and the General is basically paying you to take them off thier hands. Dealers can get MSRP on a Z because it is a car that people want. That's the old supply and demand thing IMHO.
According to my contact at NNA, the Z is the best selling sports car in America at this time, selling over 10,000 Z's in less than three months.

The Z06 is NOT a limited production model. Some dealers may try to tell you it is so they can get MSRP.

FACT : I could have gotten a Z06 for $4000 off MSRP AND 0% financing.

They made almost 9000 Z06's last year.

I agree with all said above. I'm just glad to see prices dropping.

I think the time of the year and the economics of the moment are helping. I keep finding touring models discounted, though, because that is what everybody seems to have ordered more of. I haven't yet found a Performance sitting around. I had thought I'd save a bit of money and get a performance, but I'm now thinking of going up to the Touring. Who knows, after Christmas, I may go get the one in Kansas City.

I think it is time to go to Nissan's site and get a list off all the dealers in my state and the surrounding states, and send an email offering sub MSRP, and see what responses I get.

Let's also not forget that yes 30,000 Z's are being made this year, and not all of them are going to arrive in the US, roughly 20,000 will arrive in North America. Nissan has also stated they will reduce production next year to something around 20,000 Z's, and again, they aren't all going to North America.

That just proves the old saying, that there are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damn lies and statistics. While it is true that statistically they have sold 10000 Zs in three months, 7800 of those Zs were preordered over the preceding 11 months. So Nissan has only sold 2200 Zs in the last 3 months -- even less if you count sales from the end of June when preordering officially ended, until the beginning of September when the Zs first starting showing up. Now don't get me wrong, the Z is a great car and I am VERY happy with mine, but Nissan is being very disingenous when they claim that they have sold 10,000 Zs in three months, when 7800 of those Zs have been on order since as far back as last January.

Look at the Vett, then look at the Z. Who cares what everyone else has. The Z looks stand for itself, it will never be a common car.

My Z still causes quite a bit of comment. Had a 'vette driver next to me at a light roll down his window and ask me if the car was as great as it looks - I of course said it's even better. Had a Porsche 993 driver who pulled up next to me in a parking lot tell me how great the Z is- 2 different guys came up to me while I was getting gas and started asking me how I liked the car. Came out of the grocery store and a teenager with bright blue hair was taking a picture of the Z - all of this in just the last 2 days.

When I bought my S-10 through the GM Supplier Program, the salesman said I could also get the Z06 through that program, but I'm more impressed with the quality and lightness of the Z (not curb weight, but overall feeling, light doors, easy to drive, etc.)

Try Gardena Nissan in Gardena.
Bought my Z there for MSRP. Good dealer, real friendly. They had three on the lot as of last Friday, a Super Black and 2 Pikes Peak White.

I believe under MSRP is only reserved for those smaller cities. I know in SF and Los Angeles Z's are still selling for over MSRP. Also, the reason many delaers are trying to move cars is because the more cars they move, the more Z's NNA will send their way. That's how it works. But in Los Angeles I know they're selling @ an average of 1000-2000 over MSRP still...

Some of the ones I'm finding sub list are in mid sized cities in colder climates. I just think these are the first of more. As that initial demand dies off, the prices will stabilize a bit below list, IMO.

I talked to the guy in MN, and I think he was just doing it to keep allocation up for the summer when they could sell them easier.
