I installed a "blank grommet" which is basically a rubber grommet without the hole. Size was 1",fit perfectly. I used a small amount of silicone on the underside to ensure that there were no future leaks. Looks OEM. Cost was a whopping 75cents.

dont use silicone, the above mentioned way of using a grommet is one of the best a easiest ways to do it. i did mine the same way. the grommet that is on their with the wiper assembly doesnt have silicone so whats the need for it to be used when taking the wiper out?

I bought a 7/8" Black Nylon Hillman Plug at Lowe's today, and painted it. No silicone sealer will not mess up the paint. I ran a bead around the hole with clear silicone sealer then set it in place. I used a clear adhesive sealer that I have used on the Motorhome a lot. Nothing special GE Clear Silicone Adhesive Sealer. The adhesive type help to keep it in place and the silicone sealers around the plug.

Take a look:

If you do not plan on painting the plug then use a black rubber plug. That will seal without any silicone sealer. If you want to paint the plug using the Hillman plug with silicone sealer seems to work really good. It is very flush to the surface as well. Blends in to the paint job at 10'.

Should you take the motor out if you remove the wiper?

Some guys has twisted out the shaft and left the motor in there. I do not know how they would realign it if they were to reinstall in it the future. However, some have been able to plug it without taking the wiper motor out.

"when I twisted my wiper off, the rotor post popped out and came off with the wiper.
becareful if this happens because it will fall out and may hit the body of the car and scratch it.if it comes off with the wiper then you will not have to remove the wiper motor at all. just pop the cap off the wiper, loosen the nut on the wiper, twist it off and done." by lebby-pooh

I had done this mod below until I realized I'll only drive my Z in the rain when I am stuck in it:

I covered the wiper stud with a black fiber optic cap that I had laying around.

After a week I realized I don't need a rear wiper since I shouldn't be driving in the rain with my 350Z. I might on rare occasion but, that would be only once or twice in it's lifetime. I have a '01 Pathfinder LE for a rainy day. That VQ motor is why I decided to get the 350Z with the VQ motor. It tows my 21' boat like a racecar. I can outrun my friends on country roads towing there bass boats. It is really funny. Torque city is where it is at with this VQ motor.

I dont know why people say its a big deal about driving the car in the rain without a rear wiper. I took it off my last car and could see fine for 2 years. Took it off this car right away as well. Most cars don't have a rear wiper, I know the window is on much less of an angle than most that don't but if you put some rainx on there like once every month you will have no problems. I drive my car everyday, and it has been raining for the past 4 days and not once have I wished I didnt take the rear wiper off.

Yeah, that's how I see it too. I have had rear wipers on my 300ZXT's and I don't think I ever used it. The Pathfinder is a little different; in the snow country it is nice being able to clear off the muddy snow every once and a while. Man I love that Pathfinder! It does all the stuff the 350Z can't do:

I have a Firebird and a Sable with the same rear window rake and don't find myself upset while backing those cars in the rain etc...

I would have liked them to have charged me $500 less for the car frankly and left off the silly rear wiper.
