How long do you plan on keeping your Z..... SERIOUSLY
How many of you SERIOUSLY plan on keeping your Z for more than 3-4 years or 80,000+ miles?
I either have two plans : Rack up miles and keep driving it past 80k+, or keep it garaged w/ low miles and sell it off at the usual 30k~40k miles when it's still worth something. I'm still debating long-term ownership, especially with all the anticipated new cars, such as the M3 and GT-R for example, for which I'm quite excited about.
What do you plan on doing with your Z?

Keeping it of course. It's a great car. I don't see myself selling it. Ever. I might buy a new one in about 5-6 years, but nothing can replace my Z. It's a sexy b!tch!.

Usually when purchasing a vehicle I have a tendency to purchase new. I have found that the best financial move is to keep the vehicle until it's paid off. Trading in a vehicle will amost always result in an upside down debt. Keeping a vehicle may take 4 or 5 years of payments, but a well kept vehicle will last many years afterwards. I have a 9 year old Eclipse that is in immaculate condition with 145k miles on it. It saves me tons of money. Insurance is only $25.00 per month and it is good on gas. Having a debt free vehicle allows me to maintain the Z a lot easier, as well as maintain the resale value.....I would say always buy a car to own it.

My wife and I bought it brand new to keep forever, like how my dad always wanted to keep his 69 Chevelle forever but didn't.. I wanted to have a "classic" fun car I was still driving when my kids learn to drive. We thought that would just be cool, but now we aren't sure if we can, so I'd have to answer I'd love to keep it forever if possible.

My car is 8 months old and has 1500 miles on it so far.
I don't drive it in the rain we don't get.
I won't park it in a lot full of fools.
I drive it to work once a week, take it to temple on Sundays, and do an occassional spin when the weather is good (and it always is here) on Saturdays.
In ten years I'll have 20,000 miles on the thing and it will make some kid a really nice first car. "Gee mister, that's sure a nice old looking Z". At the rate I'm going by then it will be supercharged and twin turbo'ed and probably four wheel drive.

Life changes all of the time, so I just ride it out. I have never till this day "sold" any of my vehicles.
-MR-2 still in the garage
-Tundra gave to my dad
-350z the story continues

I love my Z just as I loved all the cars/trucks I've owned. I guess I'm just one of those sentimental car owners who grows attached to these inanimate objects. I'd love to be able to keep this thing forever, but realistically I'll probably have to sell it within 5 yrs and buy a lexus with 4 doors when some chick convinces me its time to grow up and have kids (yikes!). but until then I'm happy with my car....however I'd never say its not for sale. hell, everything I own (my body included) is always for sale for the right price

The rest of my life, or until I make incredible money where I can buy a crazy car like lambo or ferrari ---- translated: For the rest of my life.
I do drive it alot (20K miles in this last year) but as of next year that'll be cut in half. I have a bike I drive on weekends in the summer and in a month I'll be buying a (beater) car to drive in the winter. So, with 2 other vehicles, I can expect to keep the Z for a bit.
But why I keep it is because I LOVE to mod it. There is so much on the market and so many options that I can't resist dumping money into it. If I sell it....I get ZERO money back for those mods, so I lose all that money. So it's cheaper for me to keep it in the long run then to continuously upgrade cars. Like going from the Z to the Shelby Cobra to a Viper to a Saleen....oh sorry, started dreaming again.

I also think the Z is one of those cars that will look new/cool for a long time. The only thing I'm concerned about is the newer cars passing us by horsepower. but that can be solved with a twin turbo
I plan on keeping the Z until the next generation Z comes out, I will see if it appeals to me like the 350Z did and decide from there.

Many years till I get a new M3 with V8 (or when I get a job that pays me enough to afford that )
Seriously though, you guys rant about build quality with Nissan cars. After owning a E46 bimmer for 2 years, I got nothing but complaints. 'Stock' Harman/Kardon stereo made the whole car rattle like there's no tomorrow, window regulators replaced twice, engine made scary and loud ticking noise at 2K rpm, shifter popped outta 2nd gear once a day, and the car almost died @ highway speed in heavy rain. (Stock airbox causing hydrolock? c'mon BMW)
Broke My Wallet, but nothing else in exchange.
Even my '03 which is 'infamous' with "little" problems, it doesn't even compare to my former bimmer.
If my Z continues to serve me as it has past 4 months, I would keep it for a long time...
