Default Watch out for the possums!!!

My Z and a possum played chicken last night and lets just say that the possum is dead, but the Z didnt get off without injurys. I cracked my front bumper in 2 different places. The possum was about the size of a beagle. So anyone got a stock bumper layin around?

Im not really that upset, its not like I could do anything about it. But I dunno I think a skunk might be softer than a possum. Im just mad cause Ive only had the car for 2 weeks!

I would rather have had to replace my front bumper over that horrible smell!!! Heck I would rather have had 1000$ worth of damage over that smell!!!!

Goodluck, and never never hit a skunk.... Id rather slam my G into the ditch if I had another encounter!!!

I hit and killed a big racoon in my 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT I had before my Z. I felt horrible about it, but I'm glad it didn't happen in my Z.

I hit a skunk in a friends car once. I didnt want to go near that car for a couple months after that and he washed it a few times a day to try to help with the smell. I thought it was funny because it wasnt my car.

Long long ago, my cousin hit a Collie with his Volkswagen Bug. As those are relatively large dogs and Bugs are small and kind of worthless 20 years ago, Lassie basically totaled the car.

I've also had two replace a reflector and a headlight on my previous car due to a couple of birdstrikes.

Anyhow, as the old bumper sticker goes, I brake for small animals...

You think you've seen/expirienced a `bird strikes' ????
I've hit a Canadian Goose at 160 miles per hour and I'll tell ya.... you did not suffer a 'true' bird strike!!! Trust me, Ill post pics if you guys want... it certainly not pretty, and I'm truly luck to be alive!!!

Heh. I was in the USAF for 8 years. I never actually saw an aircraft that got downed by birds, but I heard about it happening occasionally (I remember an AWACS getting downed by a flock of geese in Alaska, 1997-ish) and I've seen bird strikes enough times to know that it can cause an amazing amount of damage. I did see a $2 million LANTIRN pod get destroyed by something really small like a robin or swallow. I had to clean some of it up, too.

Anyhow, yeah, don't try to run over any animals, even if they're small. It's just body damage that'll need to get fixed.

I was driving on some back roads the other night and there was a truck in front of me that drove over an already dead possum in the road, We were going like 60 and by the time I saw it come out under his truck I didnt have time to react. Luckly there was no damage to the bumper though.
