Trading in 350z in 12-24 months?
Are any of you guys considering trading in the 350Z for the 3.5L V6 Supra thats heavily rumored to come out 2004 or 2005. Toyota apparently wants a piece of this sports car market and will have a base Supra thats priced competively to the 350z.
It would have to kill, not just beat, the Z in every aspect for me to trade it in. I suspect most people on this board are like me in that they bought the Z partially becuase they are simply fans of the car. I don't have the same emotional attachment to the Supra. Don't get me wrong I know it was a killer car and will probably be again when its renewed, but it just doesn't hold the same luster for me. I've been wanting a Z ever since college when they killed it in 96' so having this car now is a dream come true.

Nice to have diff. brands making and competing for sales.
It may bring the prices down and it's better for the consumers.
It's actually nice to see Nissan, Toyota and Mazda compete for
the sports car market. Perhaps, we can trade after a few years
to have different flavors!

The Modena looking version is PHAT! I owned a 97 Turbo Supra and can't say enough good things about the car. I actually have been heavily considering trading in the Z when that hits the market. BUT only IF it looks better and performs better. Toyota customer service is also the bomb. Best dealerships I've ever had to deal with. Again, it would have to really be to my liking both stylistically and performance wise for me to do so. I'm almost 100% positive it will nail the performance mark. But style wise I just don't know yet. I mean heck, right now if I wanted the best performance for the buck I'd be slapping down the greenbacks on an Evolution VIII. But we all know how fugly that thing is. If it was the EVO VI that would be different.

Supra's a nice car, but I was waiting 2+ years for the Z to finally come out. And waiting all that time, I am in no hurry from departing from this relationship. The Z is everything I hoped it would be and at very comepetive pricing. Yeah the Supra might be a good car, but I didn't wait 2 years drooling in forums for spypics of the car, unlike the Z.
2003Z,
Says you have both a Z and a G. I'm racking my brain between the two of them. What are your high's and low's on each? From my standpoint the G is a more elegant and classy car. Has a nicer interior and is more practical. But the Z gets a nod on appearance IMO. I like the more aggressive and sporty look it has. It's also lighter and quicker. Very hard decision. If I could I'd get both.

A TT?? ;P Stick with a base Z over that overpriced garbage. If you don't like the Supra from a visual standpoint I can understand. Some don't like the way it looks. But nobody can knock on the performance of that car. It's simply mindblowing what can be done with that motor.

I've never had that emotional attachment to Toyota or the Supra. I've always loved Nissan and the Z (mainly because the Maxima has always been the coolest sedan from Japan and because the Z and Sentra SE-R's were cool - Nissan had passion throught their entire line-up of vehicles). I also really like Mazda, mainly because of their determination in making Rotary powered cars.
I doubt I'd ever get the Supra, but the RX-7 (if it makes it to the states) may be in my future. Also the GT-R, C6 vette, or 911TT would be OK too...
For now though, I love the Z.
