well you said you did buy at at 18k which alone is a good deal. so if you drive it and then drive a manual (it is spelled m-a-n-u-a-l you illiterate ****'s) and if you want a MT then sell it and you could turn a crazy profit.

That's a great deal for a Z if it's in good shape. I would get it just on price regardless if it was an AT or MT if I already didn't have one. Trade it in for a MT if you don't like the AT. Anyway, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the 5AT. I was originally going to get the 6MT until I test drove the 5AT. It was the first automatic I ever drove that I felt could compare with standard transmission.

for 18K at only 11,000 miles for an 04??? you'd be crazy not to get it. even if you are displeased with the tranny...you'll be able to re-coupe without being too upside down with payments when you get a car with a manual...i wish i was in your position right now...your monthly payments are going to be crazy cheap..(if you're even financing it)

damn 18000 for a touring? thats cheaper than a brand new civic SI and you get almost 100hp more and more people turning their heads to get a second look at the car. id jump on it quickly... even if it was an auto... then id sell it for 24-25k and buy a new 06 enthusiast manual =) only cuz i prefer manual over auto but thats just me

Default Welcome and congratulations.

The 350Z with a manual transmission is a great car.
The 350Z with a automatic is a great car.
Both are 350Zs, they're just different that's all.

Automatics, by their nature are slower than manuals, just look at the performance figures and you'll see it, they are also less of a drivers car, particuarly noticeable on twisty roads. I'm not against Autos, my last car, a Mercedes, was an automatic, but for a sports car a manual is ALWAYS going to be better. However if your willing to sacrifice some driver appeal for a more leasurely drive in heavy traffic or you just prefer automatics then this wont be a problem. Automatic 350Z'a aren't available in the UK so I just have to trust those on this forum who have one when they say they are a very good auto. Also the Mercedes Mclaren SLR is only available as an auto.

Personal choice - drive it, if you like it, buy it.

I've never understood the concept of your spouse not being able to drive manual. You had to learn how to drive manual didn't you? Then just teach your spouse how. I explained the basics of how a manual trasmission works to my wife, then 30 minutes later she was driving fine and we've had nothing but manual transmission cars ever since. Maybe you don't have the wrong transmission, you might have the wrong spouse.

Ouch... aren't we a lil harsh there? There is nothing wrong with having a 5AT or a 6spd. IMO. The performance of both is only different by like .2 seconds you won't even feel it. Now I have an auto cuz thats all the dealership found when I got my car. I test drove both and found the auto was no slouch at all. Now about saying he may have the wrong spouse... who are you to say that to him? How would you feel if someone said that about your loved ones? I mean if the wife wants to drive the car and can't drive stick.. is there soemthing wrong with that? At least they can both enjoy the car together without any worries. Besides an auto with a VB upgrade would OWN a 6spd. Also we don't have to worry about blown trannies. Yeah the 6spd. is good on autocross and track events.. but the auto is not bad at all either when you track one.

i think the guys with the 6sp autos just wanted to chime in and state superiority even when a auto vs manual debate was never part of the original post...

the fun part is when the guys with auto trannys get butthurt and start firing back.

people...this is a transmission on a car...not the length of your ****, the level of testosterone that you have, or the value of a person....LOL. give the guy who posted on this thread whethewr to buy the car or not, but i think a manual vs auto posts should be kept in manual vs auto threads...imho.

for 18k i would buy that car, despite it being an auto. If all you care about is drag racing, an auto will suit you well. It doesnt take much talent to drag race, let alone do it in a auto. What you really should consider is buying the car and turning around and selling it for what its really worth. Then you can get yourself a z with a proper transmission.

the guys with auto trannies get butthurt because deep down they know they're inferior and should have gotten a manual.

Thats simply untrue.....

Like someone said above, the diff in speed is negligable (sic)......
again, if you understand the dynamics of throttle control, it dosent matter AT vs MT...as you can do the same in both.....
To each his own, I personnaly prefer an MT, but my G is AT because.. 1)03's dont come in a MT version, 2)THE PRICE WAS RIGHT!!!

The AT vs MT debate is not needed for the following reasons....

1)Both are good...
2)You can do the same thing (on the track) with both
3)To each his/her own..... If your buying a car (AT vs MT) based on what others are telling you, than your incapable to make simple decisions based on YOUR prefference.....

Again, Yes I'd rather have a MT, but thats just MY PERSONAL preff.
Anyone who bashes an AT or a MT, needs to get a life.....

ok, this is not an arguement about which transmission is better, so lets not turn it into one.
