Measuring Gas Milegage
so we have a 20 gal tank. I believe we have a 3 gal on reserve?
So, if I reset the gas meter thingy to ZERO, do I stop after the gas light comes on? and would that be at 17 gal??

When the LOW FUEL warning light come ON, I drive to a gas station a fill up. So I haven't tested how far you can drive with the light ON.

you are completely right. The gas light comes on early and your dte will flash at you. I have driven over 50 miles with my dte at zero and my light on. You are exactly right...20 gal tank, check your avg. mpg and do the math on how far you can really go. I was on a road trip when it happened to me and didn't even worry about it.
Don't worry about how big the tank is. Fill up the tank. Record current miles. Drive. When close to empty, refill tank. The pump will tell you how much gas you just put in there. THAT'S the number you use to determine your mileage, not what Nissan says the tank holds or what you think the tank holds. If you drove 400 miles and put 15 gallons in the tank, you were getting 26.7 MPG.
