I missed the Z and the Mustang does NOT handle anywhere near as good as the Z. You'll also be buying gas every 200 miles if your lucky. Bought 5 tanks in the 2 weeks averaging close to 10 mpg.

The Z is much prettier and just about as fast as the Mustang. The Mustang is always loud and it sounds nice at first..then its just annoying. The premium package interior is nice though....

That was my first and last American car
sounds like you got a bad car. 10mpg is a joke, my v10 excursion gets better than that.

I think people have car feedback confused with handling abilities here as well.

To the original poster

Sound:
subjective, put a catback on a stang and on a z and you have the two best sounding cars under 50k on the road hands down. both sound bad as hell

looks:
z out of the box hands down(i hate when people do any more than wheels and a drop to them, i think they look close to perfect stock like vettes do) now take a stang with wheels, hood, no spoiler(or ducktail), front clip and lowered....looks bad ***

performance and aftermarket the stang wins with potential.

You wont see me driving my 95 around trying to pick up *****es though, nor would you see me doing it in an 05-06

get a mudstain.. too many z owners already.

J/K

I do like the new mudstains.. looks a bit bulky, but it's their best looking one, since the late 60'~70s mach1s.

Style?

Personally I think the whole retro crap the american car companies are doing to new cars is sooo lame. If youre an inbred redneck then you probably dig it... but if you have a real sense of style/taste then you probably think it's a bad joke. Personally I would get a real classic before I bought something new that imitated a classic.

You could arguably say the same thing about a 350z and a porsche 911. The 350z gets a lot of its style from the 911. I would get a 911 before a 350z for many reasons, but a new 911 is out of my price range, and older ones aren't much cheaper to own.

So, are you after a classic or modern style?

Performance.... again, you're in two different worlds.

Are you after straight line acceleration and drag racing?? Do you like to rev a loud v8 at people? Are you mentally/physically challenged behind the wheel?? Do you just like to stomp a pedal and go fast? If so I'd go with the mustang.

Are you after all around performance? Do you like to do triple digits and it still feel like 60? Do you like to hang it all out around turns? Are you an excellent driver and capable of safely pushing a car to its limits in all performance aspects? If so I would go with the 350z. The Z is a drivers car.

Honestly.... I think if anyone is debating a mustang gt vs a 350z...... you should just get the mustang no questions asked. You're obviously confused and there are enough retards driving Z's as it is.

This question has been in the back of my mind for the past couple of months until I recently decided on getting my 03 Touring Z. I would have gotten a better deal at my local ford dealer for a new GT but after driving the two they where totally different, the Z felt more like a true sports car which was what I wanted, handling and power not just one or the other. I traded in my RX-8 for that reason, great handling and looks but no power. Plus the Z for me has it all right out of the box anything added to it is just a + but with the Stang in order for it to compete with a Z some $$$ needed to be invested. I also considered a convertible option like the Honda S2000 but too much money for what you are really getting and expensive mods not to mention go cart feel to it. Hope this helps, in no way do I want to diss the Mustang though I still own a 95 last year of the 5.0 and love it just in a different way

Top 10 reasons to buy a Z over a Ford Mustang

Z Just as fast stock for stock.
Z has better handling stock for stock.
Z looks better
Z has better resale value
Z has better gas milage
Z is more dependable and will last
Z is less common
Z All are fast...no base models like the Ford 6 that people may mistake you for.
Z looks and feels like a contemporary sports car not a old classic revised from the dead.
Z will get you more stinky finger... ( maybe this should be at the top)

I would take the Z over the stang. I was a stang guy growing up, even owned 2 of them. My buddy has an 05 and it has alot of issues. The Z is a better made car, but the stang has more power. All depends on what you want out of a car.

Da#n Base Model? I think the Base Model is the way to go ......

I have owned a bunch of Mustangs in my life. I like the New Mustangs but I would have to put over $2K in suspension to make them handle like the 350Z.

Point is: If you want a retro fast straight line car go for the Mustang. If you want a sharp edged futuristic car that take the curves like a slot car get a Z.

The interior of the 350Z is much nicer as well. IMHO

Thats quite inviting but from your post, it looks like that retard club is pretty exclusive I've put enough miles behind the wheels of Z's to know I don't want one at this time

Indeed. The Z is one of the roomiest 2 seaters I've been in. Try driving an S2000 at 6'4" ... I couldn't even fully release the clutch without banging on the steering wheel. No way could I live with that.

"much"? I wouldn't say that, now when I sat in the 2006 I felt that was much nicer than the 05 and older. Its not like the z is finished off in rich leather throughout the interior and free from rattles, its interior is rather sparse looking and not functional for anything other than driving which is fine by me(it does have a better cupholder than my cobra though )

Hey, at least I'm smart enough to find the right forum for my car.

I've put enough miles behind the wheels of Z's to know I don't want one at this time
Why are you here exactly?

To reiterate, I'm 6'3 and there's plenty of room in the Z
