Default vdc/slip

I get in my car today and drive it with no problems. I get about a mile down the road and my vdcoff/slip light come on. I turn the car off and then back on and the same thing happens again. I havent driven the car for about two weeks and the temp outside is 22f. Would any of these things be the cause? and if not can some one give me some insight? 2003 touring 30k.

I began a long thread about freezing asphalt and traction. When traction conditions are poor (freezing pavement, ice, rain) yes you may get SLIP intermittently.

When those lights appeared on my panel, it was because of my brake pads/fluid. Once I replaced my brake pads and topped off my brake fluid those two lights went away.

So...

-either check your brake fluid
-and/or inspect you brake pads for wear.

In my city, the temps have been dipping in the negatives, and the roads are icy, and I no longer get those two lights to stay on. I will get the "slip" light of course if my tires spin out on the ice. And, be sure that you don't accidentally hit the VDC button with your knee when you egress/degress from the car. I've done that before

I believe Joseph is referring to not an intermittent slip light, but the slip light staying on. Is that correct? It's common for the slip light to come on intermittently on slippery surfaces, but it's something else for it to stay on.

I do have warranty, but I have an injen intake and im afraid that there gonna give me an excuse that its the intake, or I would not want them to void my warranty for that reason

I honestly believe it has something to do with your brake system. These lights are no defect, as I had a conversation with my local dealer and told him exactly what was going on with my car (VDC/Slip lights staying on).

As many threads in this forum point to, I'd say it's a safe bet it's either the pads or fluid. How many miles does your pads have on them? If your pads have over 20,000 miles on them, they won't have much pad left (if they're OE pads).

they cannot say that your problem is caused from your intake. Take it in and have them diagnose it.

Its your brake fluid.

I had the same problem last week and I topped off my brake fluid and "poof" it was all gone...
