Question drift

Has anyone tried to drift or just get your Z sideways through a turn with the base model w/o the LSD? I found that it is possible, I have been doing it alot around this turn right before my house. It is a field on both sides incase i screw up. I am going to get a LSD but not soon. I feel it is easy to start it and get it sideways but after it is sideways it whipps around hard and i have lost control once. I usually do it in 2nd gear. What do you guys think?

I tried a really tight turn and the car fishtailed a little i took my foot off the gas then i turned the wheel the other way and hit the gas and i straighten out. Im no Mario Andretti but it was cool, it happen super quick and it wasnt a big drift. I drive a Autostick Eth with stock 17" wheels.

funny that you put this thread up. last night i tried that and lost complete control of my car...thank goddddd there were no cars on the road and that there was fields on both sides of the road cause i did like three 360's and ended up like 5 yards into the field on the side coming about 10ft of a light post...lol...wow, never doing that again...hehehe...2nd gear can pack a serious punch, especially if you dont have good tires like me...lol..

You really do need the LSD to get a controllable and gradual drift. The Z has very strong grip style suspension set up, so traction break is rather abrupt. I had very little confidence accelerating out of corners before I got the LSD, whether it be a drift or a grip attempt.

The rear continues to slip when you give it too much gas or you are not gassing it at all. Which did you do?

Id like to get one off a totalled Z or something then get that $1K nismo one. Halitotis, I was definately gassing it, it was going great and then after i tried to straighten it up it whipped hard and I lost control, just like tanny009 was talking about, but i didnt spin that much.

Drifting, no. Sideways, all the time. I would take the LSD for sure but swapping out the differential is pretty low on my to-do list.

Default driving technique, not the LSD

I don't know if an LSD is necessarily going to fix the problem like the one you described. An LSD helps with traction out of corners and keeps one rear wheel from spinning. Your problem that you described was just an issue of too much throttle. I suggest you practice where it's chill to do so.

I have a the stock LSD and it's not very impressive. I'm sure it's better than your open diff. but really, if your interest is drifting, you should look at 1.5 locking diff. Stock LSD is the weaker viscous type.

yeah, I just hate having the open differential, it sucks when you go around turns and open it up the inner wheel is spinning and the car just doesnt slide.

the nismo LSD i herd is a really good choice. You can adjust it without having to disassemble it.

if ur loosing control then you are oversteering try not to steer too much into the turn get the wheels spinning fastenough with less steer in the wheel
