Default Bad night!

Okay guys hear is a story for you. A few hours ago i was hanging out with my friend and just havin a good time. Got a call from another friend saying his cousin came down from trenton with his sick camaro. So we decided to go check it out. On the way there we come across a kid we no from our school and fallow him. We catch up to him and talk to him in the middle of his house. We said we to go in rush to meet up with another friend, so i floor it and slow down a little and take a turn to fast and loose control of the car as i goes sideways i cut the wheel and slam the brakes (not a good idea) and slide into a curb next to a telephone pole. I freaked out and jumped out of the car and found no body damage wat so ever. Friend comes out and has his light with him and looks down at my drivers side front rim. The rim has a peice at the bottom cracked off and the rim is banged up. I think to my self that it would be fine, so we drive casually at about 40 and the steering felt really off and the alignment is def off. Now i was pissed of for wat i did. Now my question is how much a realighnment would cost for the z and also how much would a rim cost. I was told to go to a junk yard and get one that came off a z, or buy oem rims online, or just go to nissan. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Sorry to hear about it. I had a similar thing happen to me. Did a couple of 360's before slamming up and over a curb. The rims on the left side weren't visibly bent, but when I had the car checked out, they did have to be replaced.

The alignment is cheap usually around $79. The rims aren't. $650 each from nissan for the factory 17" rims. I got lucky and found a set of four on ebay including tires(with only 1,000 miles on them for $600 shipped to my house, a set of four tires is worth more than that!)

So anyway I got out of the whole deal with less than $1000. However, I do now have an annoying droning noise from my front tires(usually between 60 - 75). Nobody can find the problem. I had the chassis' alignment checked, it came in within new factory limits, and the wheel alignment comes in great as well. It might be a bearing, but who knows.

Anyway I would be interested to know after you get the alignment fixed and the rim replaced if you notice any change in the tire noise.

relax man, he made a mistake, and is asking for help, i guess you have never done anything stupid, so youre throwing the first stone. anyway, alignment shouldt be too much, just go to a good alignment shop, and yeah, look online for a used rim, but youll probably have to buy all 4, which might actually be cheaper than just buying one at nissan.

Well , it could've been a lot worse. At least there's no body damage. And at least you know the limits of your car a bit better now.,

yeah i think we have all had our moments of stupidity. I usually drive calm and decided to get a little crazy and take a turn faster than i normally do and drift and lost control and spun out into a field. IT can happend to anyone, just get aftermarket rims if you cant find any at a junk yard. The factory are too costly for what you get. Alignment isnt a big deal at all. Be careful next time and make sure you dont crash and kill anyone.

you should also jack up your car and check your suspension. it is possible that you have bent some part of the suspension, which resulted in the bad alignnment.

Relax man. People make mistakes and hopefully he learned from it. Do you ever have anything positive to contribute to the forum(s) or Z community?

1sick350, just look for a new rim in the classifieds or the local junk yard. Check on other suspension components that may have been damaged and then go get your alignment done. Luckily no one is hurt and you did not have to pay a fatal price for your mistake.

The incident may be more expensive then you think. You may have damaged suspension parts. OEM wheels are inexpensive one eBay, but one may be difficult to find. You can buy 4 used OEM wheels for the price of one new wheel. You might consider an insurance claim.

If I was in your shoes I wouldnt report it to the insurance company. Try to buy some stock wheels in yoru local regional forum or in the classifieds, many guys sell them for cheap because they buy rims. Or you can upgrade your rims at this point. Do not buy 1 new rim from the dealer, they will bend you over for it. Then I would take my car and have a 4 wheel alignment done (not at the dealer). Around here that costs between $80-100. I recommend you take it to a reputable shop. If you can get the alignment back into spec, then your lucky, you didnt damage the suspension. If its a little off, you may choose to live with that. If your alignment is way off, meaning you damaged a piece of the suspension, Id look into filing a claim with insurance because if you try to guess what is bent and replace it on your own (nothing visually could look out of place) it could costs you thousands to fix. Good luck to you, and be more careful....

I think you should look back and realize that you had a good night, wen all things are considered. You could have been seriously injured or even worse. Your safe and so are your friends. Material things are replaceable and front end alinments are reaonable. Look for the real value in the life lesson presented to you. Well enough about that. Have a safe and very Happy New Year!

+1000

Metal can be fixed, ppl can not!!!

As for those that insulted this guy.... I think he's learned his lesson.... My pop used to say ""I wish that you will have lots of small incidents/accidents, and no big ones"".... in other words.... Learn from the small incidents, and if your lucky, you might never put yourself in a situation to have a major one.

Don't buy rims from the dealer unless your insurcance is willing to cover it. I had a post on here a few months ago about buying the stock 17's with tires and it was 3g's. Luckily my insurance payed for it. Otherwise you can get a good deal on Ebay or Craigslist. GL.

Don't go through insurance!!! Deductible is probably the price of a rim.
If they actually do agree to pay for the alignment, that'll drive all our rates up. I hate auto insurance... you pay money, pay money, pay money, incase something happens, and then when something does happen, you have to pay more money on top of paying money. And then to make up for the insurance company's "loss" for paying off what you did, you and everybody else who drives a car like yours, has to pay a little bit more.

+100000000000!!!!

I agree, I've had many, (I mean alot) minor fender benders"" but have yet to make a claim. My rule of thumb is: under 6000$ of damage (if two cars are involved) and If I'm obviously at fault, I have always paid those out of my pocket.

Well if your alignment is wayyy off then you could look into getting a new suspension.
