Default So i need a new clutch...

Yea, so alongside the other thread, i'm creating this one to discuss the pricing. The dealership finally gave me a quote: $1,000USD for the clutch replacement (parts + 8 hours @ $80/hr). They're saying that the flywheel probably doesn't need to be replaced, but if it does, that's an extra $1,500USD on top. Question: what can i do to save myself some money? Can i buy the JWT clutch and have a private shop install it? How much cheaper would that be? Or do i have to buy the JWT clutch/flywheel combo? How about getting a private shop to just install the OEM parts? Also, what are the odds of the flywheel needing replacement?

1. Find an experienced 350Z shop that you trust.
2. Buy a clutch and flywheel. Do not open either package.
3. Take the Z to the shop. If the OEM flywheel is OK, return the one which you bought for a refund.

if you been racing or riding the clutch hard, your flywheel might have heat scoring, which you *could* resurface the flywheel if there is enough surface underneath to eliminate the heat scoring..

the jwt clutch would be the better route if you drive the car hard and want the adding grabbing force for your 'spirited' driving.. private shops if you call around will probably save you $100-200... $1000 for a clutch job is a bit high, but thats your dealer. i mean. aftermarket oem replacement clutch is around $475. labor should be only like $300/400.

take it to a reputable import shop and you should be ok..

8 Hours to replace a clutch is insane. And $1500 for replacing the flywheel on top of that is even more insane.

Parts for clutch and flywheel should be around $800. Labor should be approx 4 hours.

Guys, i need whatever hookups i can find here in Toronto. So if you know anyone, please tell me and i'll call em ASAP!

I'm gonna go with the JWT setup. They want $450USD for the disk/pressure plate, or $750 (another place) for the above plus the flywheel. Do i really need to spend another $300 on the flywheel? I'd really rather not, unless i'll regret it later.

a lighter flywheel will let the engine rev up easier...and its cheaper labor to install both at the same time

Just ordered the JWT disk/plate for $550 incl. express ship to Canada. Expecting to pay around $350 for labor here. Plus towing and misc costs, i'm looking at $1050USD for the whole ordeal.

you should have paid the extra $300 for the flywheel. I guess if you're not into modding it shouldnt matter though.
