Do yourself a favor and review the costs of ownership on said NSX before you purchase it. Look to the costs on simple items like clutch replacement at the Acura dealer...then reconsdier your keeping the Z for the sake of your pocketbook.

They eat tires like crazy too, but they are very reliable. Parts are expensive if you do need them, though. Be sure to check insurance rates as well.

I traded my Z in on a '91. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

$30k for a '97 with that low miles is about $15k under what they normally go for. Buy it, and then sell it for a profit if nothing else.

Also, check out nsxprime for more info.

Thanks for all the input! The maintainance costs is somthing that I've been thinking about as well. The car is in great condition, and I know the owner well so I know he took good care of the car, but after 10 years, I know things will need to be replaced soon. That's the reason he's willing to give me such a good deal for it.

I just looked up a quote on my insurance policy if I replaced the Z with the NSX, and the premium will actually go down $20 if I go with the NSX. That was a surprise.

I would go with the NSX if it was a latter model.

When my Z was stock i raced a NEW 2005 NSX, from a slow roll to about 100, I won. Straight line performance will go down in comparison to your Z, but sound from the engine will put a smile on your face everytime u go near vtech, and it will handle like a ferrari. All with honda reliability. Your choice, your money, Id do it just for the ***** factor, and if you dont like it, you can ALWAYS find another Z thats in better condition or modded the way you like it for much cheaper than doing it your self.

Not neccessarily; 0-60 time on '91-'96 NSX is 5.6 sec. Not sure what '97 and up is, but they just have 20 more HP.

And the guy could drive, he has owned many sports cars, including a G35 coupe and 300ZX tt before the NSX.

Sorry for another one of these threads, but I have an opportunity to pick up a 1997 NSX for 30k. The car is in pretty good condition with only 47000 miles. Now, since I can't afford to have two 2 seaters, if I get this car, I'll have to get rid of the Z (or my wife will kill me). My Z is a 2003 Track model with 27000 miles, which should fetch around 23k according to Edmunds.com (god, resale value sure didn't hold up very well on this car). That means I'll only have to invest 7k to get the NSX.

Should I make the plunge? What's holding me back is the fact that the NSX is almost 10 years old. But it's an incredible car, and if you think about it, at one time it was a 90K supercar. It's quite a bargain if you think about it. The Z is a great car, but it's dime a dozen around where I live.

Any advice?
Tough one, the NSX used to be my dream car, but after 15 years the car is starting to look dated... I have thought about buying a used NSX myself but decided I rather have a new 350ZR...

Best to luck with your decision....
