Hmm tough decision that your in. If it was my choice, I would stay with the Z and get it another mod...like a twin turbo if your going to have to invest in 7 grand Then it really isn't a dime a dozen either.

It is a tough decision...

Driving a NSX is like driving a race car, soooo low to the ground My old boss had one... what a car! You will get plenty of looks, so no harm there.
I believe the body is all aluminum? So it will look like new for a long time too.

If you have a little extra $$ get rims for that NSX, never been a fan of the wheels!

I also own an NSX, I can't believe no one else has said this yet but $30,000 for a 97 with that many miles sounds too good to be true. It's either one of two things, the car has been in an accident and there's a salvage title hiding somewhere (or worse, a washed one), or the owner is a total tool and doesn't have a clue what the true value of the car is. This car should not sell for under $39,000 for the year and condition (based on miles only).

If you pass on this car, please email me his information so that I can buy it and flip it for a profit! I'm serious, $30,000 is what will get you a well sorted 91-93 model year. And many in the know will say that a well sorted 91-93 is a very good deal as well.

Another item I forgot to mention. Be prepared to spend money on the car. OI got lucky and bought mine with all of the mods done previously, but if you buy one stock with the intent of modding it while making car payments you will be in the poor house fast. Others are absolutely right that tires will kill you on this car, I run 18" rears on mine and am lucky to get 5000 miles out of them before needing replacing - I am able to do two track events in those 5000 miles, but it still hurts buying Potenza S03's for $26x.00 each and then have to have them mounted! Cutting corners and buying chumpy tires will in turn get you chumpy performance.

One other note, I don't know how your state works with your yearly registering, but be prepared for that cost too. In michigan, your registration rate is based on what your car cost NEW, there is no depreciation with regards to that. I pay $400 a year just to get in it and drive it.

Don't get me wrong, if this car is all it's cracked up to be, you'd be a fool not to buy it at that price though. Just be sure to come over to nsxprime.com to show us your steal of a deal.

go for the NSX. not a bad deal great looking car... simple bolt ons and you're good don't worry about turbo or s/c. NSX is a exotic car and gets the looks..

If you did want something fast you can pick up a supra for 30...

I actually know the exact history of the car because it belongs to someone I know pretty well. He wants someone who is going to take good care of the car to have it--that's why he's willing to let it go for the price. But the price doesn't seem that unreasonable--Edmunds has it listed for around $35k private party in clean condition. If it's average, they have it listed for $31k. This one should fall somewhere in between that because it does need a couple things done to it, like replacing the timing belt and some general tuning. Most likely, I'll have to spend around $2k on the timing belt replacement and tuning to get the engine in tip top shape.

Edmunds, Kbb, and the other books are never ever inline with what the actual market it. Go to NSXPrime and look at the cars for sale forum and you will see very quickly what that car should go for. Even with a timing belt for an average price of $1500, that's a smoking deal. As I said, if you don't take it I will, please forward me his contact info so that I can learn a bit more about this steal of a lifetime. By the way, what color is it? If it's blue, tell the owner I will pay $5000 more than what he said he'll sell to you at and I'll cherish it even more!

Every six years as per recommend by Honda- you don't want to chance a timing belt going on this car - it beats buying a new engine for $20,000+ or at a minimum find a used one for $6000ish+

Why does everyone think 97' model is old, it's not a chevrolet. yes that would be old even at 47K, but it's a Honda. As far as outdated please park a 350Z next to an NSX and set back and watch as people walk by. Sorry I love my 350 but only cause I can't afford an NSX.

And this NSX is a 93 or older! Needs less bling and more sport look on the rims though in my opinion.

Get the NSX. You will not regret it. At the price it is selling for you can sell it for a profit easily . The only thing that keeps me out of an NSX is the fact that I need a car I can use year round .

Get the NSX.

I own both a G35 coupe (I know it's not a Z but it is mechanically equivalent) and a '00 NSX. I purchased the G35 new in '03 and the NSX shortly thereafter. There is absolutely no comparison between the two.
