its very reccessed, I cant see how your leg could be hitting it, or is it just the side bolster that your pushing against?

It is the notch in the seat pushing against the bolstering. That makes an unmoving blob in the bolster that hits in an uncomfortable spot. If I have a problem at my height, longer leg people may have more.

My legs won't go straight to the gas pedal, but have to be arched up a bit (due to a slight lack of seat travel). That makes my leg lie slightly toward the console, right on the area where the controls are.

I'm not making this up, neither are all those people in the other thread. If you don't believe me, I'm not going to argue. I drive it every day and know how it hits my leg.

I'm very happy with my CS Touring Z. Ive owned only a few cars, and the Z tops them all. I dont think any car what I payed for would be phatter or flashier then the 350Z So far I have 2600 sweet miles since Nov

Overall, I'm very impressed and pleased with my (A/T) Touring Z.

Seats are ok, but do lack features/adjustments. i.e., adjustable lumbar (both), passenger seat memory, adjustable height low/high (driver), and seat belt adjustment, although technically not part of the seat (both).

Road noise is a problem, although I wonder if changing tires will really improve this. If not, it's time to Dynamat. Noise dampening products and recommendations are welcome.

Bose - well, let's just say it all been said, it Blose. However, there is one feature that would have been VERY nice to have, "stereo controls on the steering wheel" (ala Japan version). How could they not keep/offer this feature here in the US?

Still turning heads! That's such a great feeling. -m

Yeah, I have stereo controls on my Prowler and it is a nice feature to keep your eyes on the road. I'm really surprised they dropped the ball on the stereo. My Prowler has a very good sound system with it. I thought my 97 Supra had great sound with no upgrades. Even my Mitsu Mirage had a decent system. I hit the dealership tomorrow so I'll check out the touring they have there.

no no I dont doubt you, I was just trying to figure out what it was that was pushing into your leg, it doesnt seem like the controls could be(as I origonally pictured in my mind) but the side bolster is probably a bit stiff in that area from the tighter joint.

owell.

You have to buy the edge guards intended for trucks because they come in a 1 piece coil measuring about 4 yards. From that, you can easily cut 3 strips that are long enough.

Cool Touring Owner

After a few hundred miles I am very pleased with my Touring Model. My car is a post 5616 VIN, and so the major Bose problem -auto adjust volume, and muffled radio sound- was fixed. It is a good stereo, just not a great stereo. Sounds very good with CDs and that's about all I use it for. It got very bad press 'cause it came out in the first cars, but mine is post fix, and is OK. Not drop dead, but sufficient, and way better than the standard non-Bose stereo.

On decent to good roads, the car is really a gas to drive. If I had to take a crummy, pot-holed road to work every day, I would find another car.

There are things I think Nissan should jump on quickly. The view out the rear needs ironed out. I am 6'2" and the rear view mirror view is of the pavement close behind the car. After wrestling with the adjustments, I see just a little further behind the car. I can live with the "slot" over the bar, and under the top of the back roofline, but I need to see further behind the car. To the horizon, or nearly so. Especially to see if the car closing on me has funny bumps on the roof. This mirror setup is not even safe...To paraphrase one of the characters in the original Gumball Rally, "What'sa behinda me -is- impordante!"

The cover over the NAV thingie is fragile, and just waiting for someone to be curious and break it. That's said to be up for a change, but should never have been released in a production car. I hope our friends at Nissan don't forget us initial faithful buyers and include a retrofix we can all use.

This car simply should come with Michelin Pilot Sports mounted. More important on this car than the G35C, where they do come mounted on new cars...

At just 6'2", it takes a world of adjusting to get my head off the roof. Perhaps future cars will have lower slung seat bottoms to make it easier to get comfortable. I end up in a sort of Formula 1 position, more low slung than I'd like.

But that's it. I had a 240Z years ago, and after years of exile from bloated ZXs, I returned to a real Z car. It is a joy to drive, and listen to, and look at. I really enjoy the car, and love to find empty country road twisties and get the tires roaring a bit. It is designed for pure fun, and I enjoy it that way. This is not a traffic/transportation critter. It is very capable, and I am eager to complete my break-in and drive it closer to its limits.

Have you thought about taking the mirror loose and putting it back on an inch or so farther down the glass? That may fix your angle.

I know what you are talking about, but I'm a bit shorter, and it might not affect me as much. It also sounds like you are more torso than I am, since my head isn't close to the roof at 6'1".

Default Rearview Mirror Visibility

"Have you thought about...Moving the mirror farther down the glass..."

It's a good idea, one concern with that is even angling down the rearview mirror body cuts off more outward view [out of the front windshield] than I like. I also thought about disconnecting all the autodim stuff and mounting it just above the dashboard. I dunno, but at present I can keep track of everything about 4 car lengths behind me.

Thanks, I will keep noodling it.

You could unscrew it from its mount (normally just an allen screw) and have some body hold it to the glass so you could test it lower, to see how you like it

Default happy

Comes and goes. The original tires have been the bane of my existence w/ this car. Whoever approved the OE tires did not take daily driving into the equation. As far as I could tell from my experience, they are good for Track and autoxing in warm weather. Anytime it got below 50 degrees, they rode like they were filled w/rocks. In warm weather, they were so uncomfortable on anything but smooth roads, they gave people headaches as they crashed from one bump to another.

The car also bounced, like a teeter-totter, from the rear to the front so much people actually got nauseated from the motion. I just got rid of the OE tires at 1600 miles at a cost of $1K and I was not happy to need to do it. Some of the bounce is still present and I have complained to Nissan about it.

Everything else is minor and I love the car's performance, looks, interior, etc. All minor problems are being dealt with and I will become totally satisfied in the near future, I am sure. When the bounce is gone, completely, without question, and I can enjoy my high-performance sports car the way it should be enjoyed.

Boomer--my opinion, use it or lose it. I don't care.
