Default idleing at 500 RPM! SON OF A *****!

ok well, i was driving my baby around today, and realized i was havign little more difficulty coming off of lights than usuall( i dont use throttle only clutch modulaton) i then noticed the car was slightly rougher idling, i looked at the tach and sure enough she was at 500 rpm idle! Wa can cause this? my only mod would be cusco catch can, on the left valve cover.

wait, why do you even have that mod to begin with? lol

ok back on topic, was your A/C off? The Z has a tendency to drop RPM when the A/C is off, I think there is a fix for it...i dunno haha

sounds like a vacume leak for sure, with the AC on the motor should actually be running at a higher rpm, the computer request a higher rpm with AC to keep the compressor from affecting the engine

Idle S/B 650rpm +/- 50rpm in Neutral for a manual transmission.
Or
Idle S/B 650rpm +/- 50rpm in Neutral or Park for the automatic transmission.

Mine idled at 800rpm until I installed the iridium plugs and checked the gap. After that my car idled correctly with a smoother idle and no misses. It also picked up about 1.5mpg on the freeway as well.

I too thought mine was low @ 700rpm with A/C off, but apparently it's normal (500 seems a little too low). It does feel a little rough-idle at times. Unfortunately because of the drive-by-wire design, there's no way to adjust it. My old Z had an idle-screw you could +/- 100 rpms...those were the days.
