many have just enough us parts to meet some federal guideline..
example: Parts content: 75% japan 25% US assempled in US
i was at the dealership a few weeks ago and i saw a parts origin sticker for the Z and all the parts, including motor, tranny and chassis was made in japan. and i do believe the assembly plant is in tochigi japan. however on the sticker it says final assembly point was in los angeles.

The Z is made in Tochigi, Japan. I was there the past summer for a tour. It is possible, but unlikely, there are US part in the car. Becasue of the cost, it is more likely it would have parts from other countries, like China, Korea. That's just my guess.
Yes, the sticker's on the Z's all say the final assembly point as the shipping dock in which the car arrived onto the US. My final assembly point says Los Angeles as well. Not sure why it says final assembly point, because the car was already completely built in Japan and just brought over, but maybe they had to go through some inspections after it arrived. Others have said that the cars are shipped over without some things such as windshield wiper fluid, that they add once they are received stateside.
When the Z first came out in late 2002 (as 03 model), they were made in the Oppama plant, which is not far from Yokohama. They moved the production to Tochigi sometime in 2004. All 2005 and newer models are made in Tochigi.
