Default AT vs MT

So I'm about to get my first sports car, and I was just wondering on the Z how different the AT and MT versions are. I know the AT has slightly less horsepower, and slightly more torque than the MT. I always assumed MT's would be faster but today after I test drove the MT the dealer told me a story about 2 brothers that bout a MT and AT, and the AT beat the MT every time because it has some mode you can set to redline and the switch.... Personally I like to shift gears and use a clutch but if the AT really is just as fast I wouldnt mind it... Anyone know anything about this?

If ur talking about an 06, get the MT. The MT's have the new engine with a higher redline and more HP. Its much more 'sporty'.

Its not just about who's faster, its also about controlling your car. With the MT, you can control your rev/gears but you're limitted on the AT. Ask yourself, Whats the purpose of your Z. Is it just for sunday curises or are you planning on doing some track time? This same principle applies to when you start modding. Always determined the purpose first. Good luck.

I would test drive both and make that decision...

I have 5at and it's a compromise... I wish it was practical to get 6mt but for me it's not this being a daily driver.

Ask yourself why you're buying the car... are you going to race anybody? Is it for your own pleasure? Or just for the looks...

If it's for your own pleasure then get the model that will make you happy and ignore other people's opinions....

Would I trade in my 5at today...... no way...

Will I buy a 6mt in the future, definitely when I can afford 2 cars for myself...
