should i sell and wait for convert......
I am in a position to get my hands on a vert. when they are released, my question is should i sell my two cars to get it?
I have a modded up 97 mustang gt and a 95 volvo 850 turbo ( winter). I'm still debating. Any imput would help. Is the vert. worth the wait? Moose

I would agree, is the convertable worth the wait? maybe for someone thats in florida, or california and could use it year round. but then again, youd only really use yours in the summer, so you could use the open air 100% of the time even if its only 50% of the year.
also remember the convertable will cost more, about 3-5000 more.
if you want a weekend cruiser for the summer months, convertable is the way to go. if you want a summer racer that your gonna mod, go with the lighter, more structurally sound hard top, and save a few bucks, and enjoy a quieter cabin.

Well, that removes a big reason to not get a convertible.
Keep in mind that unless Nissan does some engine upgrading, the convertible will be slower than the current Z.
But, it still sounds pretty attractive to me.
I'd go for it.
California is made for convertibles.....and blondes.

Depends on your driving habits and tastes. I'm a performance enthusiast so I will always take a hard top over a rag top. It's nice sometimes to drop the top in the sun but 80% of the time I don't. And I live in sunny San Diego. I almost never took off my targa on my Supra. I only dropped the top on my Prowler when I first got it but haven't done it much since. You'll have a more structurally sound car with a hard top that's lighter and faster. You'll have a more enjoyable cruise down the coast with a ragtop. Your call.

Been in the game industry since I was 20 so I've made pretty good money for awhile.
well, maybe the thought of moving to a new climate, especially from michigan is probably the reason i am in a debate, but i feel the hardtop always looks better and obviously perfoms better, and more structurly sound. My current car (mustang) is a hardtop .....this may be a totally different question, will i miss the performance loss to a new car, my stang has 340hp/351lb tq.
But i think im ready for a smoother, different ' real sports car'

Since Nissan has not announced any details or shown the car why do you say it is only available in the automatic? None of the dealers I have talked to have any details yet.
Although it _could_ be true, but it sure seems unlikely. This car is clearly targeted to compete with other sport convertibles which all have manual gear boxes available
Porsche Boxster
Ford Mustang
Audi TT
BMW Z3/Z4
Chevy Corvette
Chevy Camaro (now defunct)
Mercedes SLK
All of these cars are available with a stick. I can't think of any good reason that Nissan would drop the ball and not offer a stick shift. The car was designed as a convertible from the beginning so any mechanical requirements could have been addressed.
If Nissan decides not to offer a stick in the convertible I will cancel my deposit and go get the Z4. It's not as fast, but I want a stick.

I could be way wrong here, but I heard that the convertable had been cancelled.

Perhaps this was some sort of troll?
On the bright side...If it has been canceled you have just scooped everybody including all the car magazines.
