Default How did they break-in to my car?

So my Z was broken into last night. How did they do it? I ALWAYS lock the car and they didn't break the window. In fact, there's no sign of forced entry. They stoles some random things (a pocketknife, coins, garage door opener.)

I don't care about the stolen goods - I just want to know what method they used to get in in the first place. I have the factory alarm, FYI. Highly disturbing.

It's been reported often on these forums that locked Z's are easy to gain access to, from right behind the door handle. I'm glad your car wasn't stolen or otherwise damaged.

BTW, you did change your garage code, didn't you?

Yeah I would be really worried that they stole the garage door opener. There is only one reason why they would steal that so I hope you re-set the code so that opener wouldn't work anymore.

I have a sticker on each side in the tiny rear windows that states:

"Caution Enter At Your Own Risk

Thieves already know, like they have their own forum. He had his car broken into in Portland, while normally this news comes from New Jersey.

It's not like he posted a "how to" with pictures, just the general vicinity. There are plenty of post about how easy it is to break into a Z from the drivers door. Lets not ignore it and give people a false sense of security.

Nissan seems to have compromised security for features and convenience. Why Nissan has not addressed this achilles heal of the Z only shows their lack of real support for owners. Why is it they need to be sued to make changes like locking down the headlights on some of their other cars.

Actually, I don't have the foggiest idea of how to break into a Z; just vague recollections of reading about it on these forums last summer (so all you thieves out there, DON'T PM ME! ).

Chris and you are both absolutely right...those who must steal a specific car aren't even deterred by laser-cut keys. Mentioning about it might get NNA to take notice; not that they don't know about this already.

Z's are faily easy to steal....I own a junkyard and have seen many stolen Z's at the insurance auctions. with no sign of forced entry. Alot of them bein stolen off the lots of car dealers too.

just cause you got an alarm doesnt mean this thing will be prevented... if thieves want something out of your car theyll take it... an alarm just slows them down a bit.

anyway back to the subject... maybe they used a slim jim? i dont know if slim jims work on Z's but my friends car got broken into and they used a slim jim... the car doesnt even look broken in to

WTF. Why are they so easy to break into. Don't the people who make/design vehicles try and make sure they are HARD to break into?

Ya, you know how if you lock your keys in the car and the AAA guy can open your car in like 2 seconds... it's just that easy to get into most cars.

An alarm can at least alert YOU that someone has been jacking with your car, but I don't think it deters most theives if they really want something from your car. It might stop someone who is just out for random stuff, they'll probably skip a car with an alarm to go for something with less hassle.
