stronger internals will only matter if you fi your car.... if you keep it na, your internal should hold w/o a problem

IIRC, yes. They put in stronger connecting rods and other internals. They might be a little bit lighter too to assist with the higher revs, but I don't know for sure.

New member here...

I have a question regarding the original question posed in this thread. Do any 06 Z's have a 7000 redline? In looking on the nissanusa website I find the highest redline shown for 06 models to be 6400 rpms on the 300 hp 6-speed models. If that is correct, does that make the 05 35th 6-speed and track models the only Z's with the higher 7000 rpm redline?

Will post to the newbie board and introduce myself as soon as I get the time.

Just another 35th, SB/charcoal, 6-speed

ALL '06's with a manual 6 speed have 7k redline (300HP), and '06's with auto have the 6.6k redline (287HP).

That's what I thought; however, on the nissanusa website it lists the specs as 287 hp @ 6200 rpm and 300 hp @ 6400 rpm. My guess is the person entering the data doesn't know anything about what he/she is entering. The torque specs seem to be correct.

The only component known to have been made specifically stronger are the connecting rod bolts. Plenty of other differences, however.

The figures quoted on the Nissan website are maximum HP figures; max. horsepower is usually obtained at revs lower than the actual redline figures...
