First I must mention that Family Nissan http://www.familynissanrsm.com/en_US/ has been the best in customer service since i have mentioned this proble to them. if you are in southern california and you are unhappy with your current dealer ship i would highly recoment Family Nissan
OK, so here is the bottom line.
my compression is perfect. the compression test found no problems. then they did a leak down test. cylender #1 is leaking 14%, #2 11%, #3 9%, #4 6%, #5 10%, and #6 5%. this is obviously not good.
i was just told that my new short block has been ordered and they will start install on monday.

i would say using about half a quart of oil every 3500 miles between oil changes should be considered normal....

+1 for Family Nissan but that's because I know the chief mechanic there and he doesn't care that I have mods.

I have been in the oil consumption problem the last couple of weeks. Here's the short story:

I changed to 5W-30 Mobil 1 synthetic at 9k mi from the dealer and 4k mi later I noticed my oil light coming on when I corner or brake hard. I check my oil last week end and noticed that it barely registered on the dipstick, big problem!! But I don't jump to conclusions and go straight to the dealer. I had to add 3.5 qts just to get back to normal so I could take it to my mechanic the next day.

-3.5qts in 4000 mi, only 1.5 qts left. I drive hard so I don't think this loss was out of the question, right?

I purchased 10W-30 Redline oil and had my oil changed at the shop I go to (I know, oil change is easy but I was doing the upper seat mod at the same time, so it's easier that way). When they drained the oil it was black as night and that got me worried since I put in 3.5qts of good oil the previous day. I didn't see any oil sludge or anything out of the ordinary other than that.

I took the car for a drive and it feels fine. From now on, everytime I fillup on gas I will be checking the oil on top of monitoring the oil pressure more closely. If the dipstick registers anything below L before the next oil change then I will be taking it in for a leakdown test.

If only Nissan would make the dipstick more accessible, I would be checking it all the time .
