Default Help with decision

Ive been trying to get an 06 350z for the last couple of months. Im 27 and just graduated college about 6 months ago and finally have a stable job teaching. I qualified for the nissan program for recent grads but could still not qualify for a 350z unless i get my parents to co-sign or just get the car under there name.

Now my bro works at a ford dealer and there is an 03 touring 350 there with 20000 miles. With his discount i can get it for around 20000. I would be able to get the car under my name for pretty low payments because of the down payment i will put down, and if i have problems i can have my brother work on it at the dealership without any questions.

I see that everybody here hates on 03's and makes them sound like junk, so i am scared to get one. Should i just let my parents get me a 06 or go with the 03.

I would prefer to own my car with the title in my mane. 27 years old and its time to cut the apron strings. Its a question of maturity and independence.

Get the 06, not worth the risk of the 03!

If you can afford an 06, then get it, if you can't then get the 03!!!! you may be able to get a new base 06 for around 27k OTD

Alot of '03 owners don't have problems. However, it would be safe to say you'd counter less problems with new models but it is not guranteed. As Loquitoy2k said...if you can get an 2006 model...go for it. Base is good if you don't mind not having TCS, LSD, cruise control, radio controls on steering. I can't think of what else a base is missing..but those are just the top of my head.

Standing on your own feet is good. If the 03 checks out mechcanically, $20 Gs for a Touring is a decent price.

Plus, the idea is to start to build credit for yourself. I think that is more important than the car. I would probably get a extended warantee through a credit union or something to hedge your bet as soon after the purchase as you can.

I would check to see what TSBs have been done to the car and make sure it gets what it needs. Like mecinoid said, I also would get the extended warantee which I believe is very much worth it. If you could get a history of any problems reported on the car through its VIN number (a history through the Nissan service department possibly) it might help. I'm not even sure that its possible to do that though. I've kept my TSBs up to date on my 03 and she's still running fine at 50+K.

I would try to get a low base milage 04. It is as light as the 03 but with the new model issues fixed like nonlinear steering.

Funny on monday i got a call from the dealership saying i was going to need a co-signer cause i couldnt get the 7% afterall and the lowest they could get was 10% and my payments were gonna go up like 50 bucks.

So i told them i would take back the car instead, after putting about 400 miles on it, lol. After walking out they came back and knoced off a couple of grand more to keep my payments the same reguardless on the interest.

Now i can refinance with a co-signer and get a lower interset rate and since the price of the car was way cheaper, my payments will actually drop like 40 to 60 dollars.

Nice move telling them to keep the car. The ball was in your court on that one. Car dealers pull that BS alot recently. Definitly refi asap. 10% is crazy.
