Default Dealer Misinformation ?

Hey you non-owners, potential purchasers....I'm getting some conflicting information. Called a couple of dealers in my area. One dealer says if you order today, there is a 3 month wait for a 350Z, another dealer says there is a 5-6 month wait. Also said that one ordered today would be a 2004 model when received AND price will go up. Anybody else getting this type of information?

Yeah they are pretty much BSing you. About the 2004 thing. I heard nothing of a price increase.

As far as the time frame it all depends on your location & the model of the car you want.

The dealer which is making me wait till march (my order date is at the bottom) has called me with 2 enthusiast models. I jsut don't want to budge.

So some cars are on the lot also check out the classifieds I saw some Zs almost below msrp. (This forum has a classified section)

Don't know your age but it seems like the dealer is playing you. Tell them what you know about the car.

Also the wait could be 5-6 months I waited that long. If the dealer has alot of orders ahead of yours. But price should be msrp.

I don't understand why many folk are restricting themselves to one dealer.....unless of course you don't mind the wait.

People can go to the Nissan web site and find the inventory of every dealer in the country. Eithor your dealer can do a trade or just buy from a different dealer if other dealers have what you want. I am assuming equal pricing.

It sounded like he went to a few dealers. And is trying to get opinion from other members.

I did the same after I visted a few dealers just to see if the story they are giving me is somewhat close to truth.

I just did the paperwork to order mine (order will go in Feb 4th). The salesman said it will take ~12 week (unless one shows up with the same config first). Said nothing about it being a 2004 model. Selling it to me @ $200 below MSRP...only $500 deposit.

I bought mine at the local dealer because the did a search (as did I) and my config couldn't be found anywhere near...so I ordered.

I just started talking to some dealers this evening. Previously I have only been checking Nissan website. Called first two and immediately got conflicting stories. Thought the 2004 story was interesting, hadn't heard that one before. It's just amazing to me that "some" dealers continue to say anything to get you to buy what they have on their lot. I inquired about ordering and got the 4-5 month "line".

I've bought many cars before and always do my research. BTW, I've settled on a Daytona Blue Performance. I haven't found one anywhere close to me. Closest was a DB Enthusiast, but I think I want the VDC. I'm patient, just wanted to get confirmation on these two stories.

don't dealers get an alotted amount of Z's they can order per month? So perhaps the ones who have a longer wait are selling more Z's.

Yes they do. The bigger the dealer the more the orders available per month for him.

I just got back from the dealer today, and he told me that it takes 60-90 days for orders. No mention of getting the '04 model. He did advise me to go ahead and purchase or order as soon as possible because with the spring/summer comes demand and mark-ups.
