No sound from the tires when you lose traction off the line on dry pavement

Who knows...new super non-screech rubber developed exclusively for Nissan by NASA scientists while researching the effects of rubber on Mars I suppose.

Or some will think that Nismo had something to do with it, I suppose.

The screech happens when a tire loses grip and the rubber vibrates causing the screech. since the stock tires don't have any grip to begin with, they do not screech

Ive noticed this too, tho it is common for some tires to just not make noise. I cant get mine to peel out at all. but when I drift the back tires they dont make a peep. possibly something to do with the low profile tires? not sure, but Ive noticed other cars that dont make any noise either(drag cars would be one major one.)

I'v noticed some "performance" compound tires wont screech. It seems also that some road surfaces wont allow a good screech either.

Summer tires rarely screech. All seasons squeal like a pig. Reason being that the compound is soft enough that it will roll a bit while breaking loose. That is why summer tires do not last that long. This rolling produces a rumble sound rather then a screach.

ROFL del105. Ya, they are very bad. You should see them in the snow/ice. Truly dangerous. I garaged mine!

I've had my Redline track model at two road racing circuits and can assure you, those 040s will scream for mercy when pressed! Since the 350Z is set up to understeer, I can really hear the fronts 'screetching'. Much of this also depends upon what sort of pavement you're on...

I just want that sound which says it means business! Tires suck anyway. Getting all season performance tires.

i dont think the tires suck you actully have high performance tires now and everyone says they are slipping and sliding.

this is becase there not the usual touring tires that come on cars that where used to
and most importantly the dreaded rear wheel drive

There must be a lot of people with 17" rims on this board. Everyone that complains about the tire always mentions getting A/S tires for replacement to the RE 040's, but there aren't any A/S tires for the 18" rims, only summer tires.
