350z vs 2003 Mustang GT
What would it take to make the 350z fast enough to take a mustang gt super charged in a 1/4 mile. Is it at all possible? I am planing on getting a z and my cusin has a supercharged GTand I was woundering what time the GT supercharged would make in a 1/4 mile and if its possible to beat it with a z. I know I would need major modifications. Any suggestions thounghts info?Anything would be of great help. I hate to ask this kind of question its probably asked quit frequently but all my life me and him have competed over everything and now i would love to beat him in a race. Thank You
Well you could super charge your Z or turbo charge your z. Definately going to need some exhaust with that as well. I don't think your going to be able to hang with just bolt-ons like exhaust, intake, test pipes, plenum spacer, ecu flash, etc. I'm sure they would help though.
My buddy has an 03 Supercharged GT with Vortech Supercharger, Exhaust, and Gears. He was making 465whp last time he got on the dyno. Only way you will come close to competing with that is to twin turbo the Z and tune it for "high-ish" boost.
I don't think most supercharger setups or 100 shot of nitrous will even get you there. Maybe close, but I haven't seen tooo many supercharger setups dyno > 465whp. My buddy was running 12.2-12.4s all day long and he's not a drag racer. I believe the previous owner of the GT (he bought it used) had clipped into the 11s. Barely.
Short answer; a lot of cash and mods.

I am debating between a z and c5 corvette, I would much rather have the z but if its not gunna be able to stay with or beat that stang I am gunna have to get the vette.

Bwahahaha...
I don't think you'll get either honestly after reading that response. Anyone talking about buying a car "just to beat my friends supercharged GT" is a moron and probably not even serious about getting either.
Like davidv said, come back when you have the Z...
Further, a normal C5 Vette is not going to run 11.9-12.3 either, so your buddies Supercharged GT is going to eat you even in that unless you mod it. My Z with boltons (maybe a mid-13 second car) hung with non-Z06 C5s before.
You MIGHT be able to beat a Supercharged GT in a C5 Z06. It would be close, but again I think the Stang' might still have the edge until you bolton an exhaust/etc to the Z06 or unless you are a super driver.

It also depends on the build quality of your friends SC setup and his support mods, but I'm speaking from experience. I've ridden in my uncles normal C5, a friends Z06 C5, and my friends Supercharged GT making 465whp and the Stang GT would eat the Vette's (and nearly any Z forget those making 500+whp) alive.
run forced induction, take out any unnecessary weight in your car, get some slicks, and if you want to drop the nail on the head, go with a little nitrous oxide (but i dont like spraying). oh and practice your launches =)
Im not getting a car to impress him i already have my 67 impala and my bmw for impressing people witch i dont intend to do with any of my cars the only person im worried about impressing is myself. Me and my cousin have had i life long fued over who was better than who over everything and this is an advancment on that, recently he has supercharged his mustang and my 1998 m3 can no longer hang with it and my m3 is getting up there in miles so i am looking to trade it in and purchase a new car and so far i have fallen in love with the z and i am trying to find out if it is a worthy competitor of his stang with modifications. This is not to impress, this is to have fun and race isnt that what cars enthusiests are all about? Making there cars as best as they can even if in the end you are doing it for your own satisfaction and pleasure.
