This is why you don't brake AND turn (350Z wreck merge thread)
That's fricken nuts! Scared the crap out of me. I would've never gone that fast into a turn especially with surroundings like trees so close by. It would have to be more of an open area. That sucks big time. I hope the driver is ok.

I'm not sure if they would have been able to recover from it, however, they would have never went into the turn that fast therefor would have never had any issues in the first place.

This is also where I'll make my plug for having the VDC on. If you're going to try to dive bomb a corner for the first time, switch on the VDC. You'll be able to tell if the car would have made it in the 1-2 seconds before VDC interrupts.
Most race tracks will be pretty clear of big objects to the outside of the turn (unlike autocrosses, which cannot always avoid this). On a race track, you're best chance for survival is to put it straight in. If you over-cook the corner, just nail the brakes (but don't lock 'em) and make a bee line straight off the corner. You DON'T want to leave the track sideways! It will usually end up in a roll. Same goes for the other scenario: a spin. If you're in a spin, lock up the brakes and let go of the wheel. With the tires locked, the car will travel in a straight line (following it's momentum), and on most racetracks there won't be anything to hit if you go off the outside of a turn. In this case, you could leave the track sideways (and a roll could result), so you may want do some praying to the crash gods while you're in the spin.
Most racetracks have been designed with safety in mind. When they're laid out, they anticipate where a car will go if it loses control and so will avoid placing nasty stuff there. It's one reason why I prefer racetracks to autocrosses...

looked like he tried the feint the weight over but couldnt get the back end to comply. I cant tell if he tried to clutch kick...the computer I'm using doesnt have speakers
, but if you guys could hear a sudden rise and fall of RPM from the 350Z, that will indicate the clutch kick. He might've tried to clutch kick get the back end to swing out, but too little too late. Most of our drifters combine feinting and clutch kicking...he might've been doing the same. and usually resort to using the ebrake to save their *** if the back end doesnt want to come out.
THAT WAS NOT AN AUTOCROSS. It was the drift event being held on the northeast lot.
Because of the numerous "incidents" during that DRIFT event, I wouldn't be surprised if the drifters would no longer be welcome at Qualcomm.
