Ha-nice video, I hadnt seen it. Good advertising for Megan Racing-the gayest name for a parts company ever. Vid shows 3 things.

1. Their exhaust sounds like $hit
2. Their coilovers make a Z understeer
3. They need a new test driver

If they had only smashed that ricer wing off the back...

Anyone know what actually happened, aside from the flames and all the "idiot driver, that would never happen to me" attitudes?

The turn does not seem so tight, and the speed not necessarily way too fast for this corner. Maybe the video view angle is misleading?

He definitely gets into understeer and seems to make the mistake of increasing steering input rather than decreasing (front slip angle).
He could have gone into straight line emergency braking...

Also the braking (unclear how much he does) should have helped the understeer?

Maybe this car had a more complete VDC disable, also disabling ABS and the driver just locked up the brakes without threshold braking?

Either way it's not entirely clear to me where the driver failed to safe the situation.
Possibly brake failure? The smoke coming from the angled front tires more than from braking?

 

Looks to me like he drove it in a straight line to hard and was going to fast too stop. Missed the threshold on the braking and locked them up and went into a tree...

 

Man that REALLY sucks. Hurts me to watch it.

 

Almost looks like his throttle got stuck... Because even with him breaking hard the car didnt slow down much...

Looks to me like he thought he was going too fast for the turn locked u the breaks, broke traction slid straight on through. I did that when I was 16 in my 240Z. It sucked until I learned how to drive.

It doesn't mean I won't do it again. I just hope not.

 

What an unfortunate car to be owned by that driver.
