Stupid dealer stories
So I've been driving around trying to see as many as the colors as I can because I narrowed it down to Daytona blue and the two silvers. I call a dealer to ask what colors they had. "Silver." I ask if it's the light or dark silver. "Dark I think...lemme check...silverstone." Cool, haven't seen one yet so I set off for the dealer (1.5 hour round trip). I get there and it's a fookin' chrome silver. Idiots! If they can't even give you the right color over the phone I doubt their ability to deal, sell, and service my car. I left thanking them for wasting my time and telling them hell would freeze over before I bought a car from them.
They probably don't get a lot of serious inquires about the car, only a lot of sightseers. First, not everyone is going to consider buying a 2-seater. Also, people who are considering the Z have probably read all about it and researched it on the Internet fairly thoroughly. So, I'm thinking people who drop in to look at it may already know more about it than the salesman who isn't buying one and probably hasn't read the Owner's Manual.
I checked at several dealers early-on, looking at the different colors, and I don't think any salesman showed me or told me anything I didn't already know. I heard one salesman showing a Redline to a potential customer and he couldn't even name all eight colors using generic terms like black, white, red, blue, silver, etc. Pretty sad.

When I was waiting for delivery of my Brickyard Track, I (like most others on here) had researched every aspect of the car. I would e-mail my saleman with new info about delivery (VIN # stuff, which ship it was coming on, what port it was arriving in. etc) and all the other "top secret" stuff we used to talk about when this site first started.
When I took delivery, he basically told me he wasn't going to waste his or my time telling me about the car since he knew there was nothing he could tell or show me that I didn't already know. He was pretty cool about it though.

Which dealer did you call? This is a good gauge of how good their overall dealership is in general, and I'm always looking for other good dealers in the NW area.

I'm working with Olympia Nissan here in Olympia in the Automall. Touring fully loaded at $200 under MSRP. They have a chrome silver, black, and blue on the way...all touring I think. Ask for Ron Gross if you're poking around (360) 754-5500. Tell him Neal sent you.
I had an annoying experience with a dealer in the Maryland area. For several weeks I was checking the dealer inventory in my area using the Nissan website. At the time, I was looking to possibly get a SB Performance and I noticed that one of the dealers that was within driving distance (but really not that close in proximity to my house) had a SB Performance with all of the options that I would want if I ordered the car from Nissan. I figured that the inventory numbers on Nissan's website may not be updated daily, so I called the dealership to check before I drove over to see the car. The salesman that I spoke with assured my that they had a SB Performance and that they were "looking at it in the showroom " as we spoke. Well, I drove there that night and not only had they sold the SB Performance a week before, but the Z in the showroom that the salesman claimed he was "looking at" was RED
! Needless to say I walked right out and ended up purchasing my Z from a close competitor two weeks later.
