Default Navigation Door in '06 Missing

I have an '06 roadster with Nav. Isn't there supposed to be a door on the nav box which opens and closes with the ignition or the push of a button??

Thanks,

rwclark

The door would not always work well on the '03-'05 models.

Yes, nav door has been removed in nav-equipped '06 Zs and a little ledge is in place to reduce glare during the day. I don't know why the door was ever there in the first place.

My Nav door door broke once and they fixed it, but I've wondered since the 06s came out if I could easily swap the center dash out, but I don't think I can unless I don't have navigation.

I meant, I never understood why the nav needed a door. Of course the cubby (non-nav Zs) couldn't be doorless.

Actually I agree with your post. Have it, use it, like it, it works.

I love the door, it always gets ooohs and aaaahs when people come into the car for the first time. Also, when I park in a sketchy neighborhood, it is one less thing for someone to see inside the car they might want.

can you add nav to base model? How much extra would it be? I rather have the factory nav than after market.

no. while it may actually be possible you will have to replace too much of the vehicles wiring to make it actually worthwhile. Go with aftermarket.
