Default ARGH...flapping noise from the right rear area....

Over the past two days I have started to hear a noise that sounds like something is stuck on the right rear tire and flapping around, but it only comes on over 25+ mph, and gets worse on and off from there.

I checked the wheel, tire, suspension, and cannot find anything!

Any ideas, she is going to the dealer tomorrow if I can't find it, and I am driving something else in the mean time, because the noise is so loud now, it's unnerving.

Sounds like the wheel well plastic or under plastic is loose and the wind is catching it the faster you go.

chances are you're hearing the infamous rear axle click...There is a TSB out for that problem. Search the forum; you'll find a link to it...

Check your rear wiper blade. Sounds nuts, but my Z made a similar sound.and when I got out to find the reason for the noise, the blade was stripped back just enough to see. I replaced the blade after a quick stop at the store, and the sound has been gone since. Hope this is ALL that it is for you....I was lucky. (knock on wood or sumthin)

That may be it.

Mine has peeled back some, and was flapping. The funny thing is, I went to get new blades from the dealer a few days ago, due to the wear, and they didn't have the rear blade.

If it doesn't come back, I'll know that was it, and I have a feeling it was, because the sound was worse with a cross wind and not exact to the speed.

another thing you may check is the rear trunk vents.. Just this last weekend, I completely tore all the plastic out of the back of my Z to install dynamat for my stereo install. There are 2 vents in the rear trunk that vent to the bumper area. They are vents that have little rubber flaps that keep them closed. Since I still have all the trim out of my car, I noticed the other day when driving about 50, the vents in the back were flapping, as the turbulence was causing them to open and close. I had this same problem in my VW GTI.

It has been confirmed! It was the rear wiper, flapping in the wind. I observed it on the way to Advanced Auto, where they had Trico Exact fit refills, which fit great!

All 3 wiper refills cost me just over $10.

Thanks for the help!
