Default Oil Change - help

Let me just say, all Nissan Dealers sucks buttholez, right from the tab. Everytime I go to the service department, everyone ignores you. The place was practically empty and they say my oil change will be $27 and take 1.5 hours.

So, I'm going to do my own. Going synthetic. How many quart does our z take? any filter brand I should know about? I'm thinking mobile 1. don't think they have royal purple at kragen or pepboys, do they? I've done plenty of oil changes.. just not on the z.

Depending on how long you drain the current oil, it should take between 4 and 5 quarts so buy 5 (you will end up using less than 5 assuming you are using the stock oil pan).

As for filters, I've always stuck to OEM filters on all my cars so I can't reccomend anything else because I havn't tried them.

5 qts. as stated in the manual. K&N filters are my preference. Yes, pepboys has RP.

5 quarts of the Mobil 1. Oil filter is up to you.. Choose from $5 Fram Tough Gaurd (I like the sure grip feature) or $10 Mobil 1. Mobil 1 has better filtration (tighter fibers), but Fram works just as good especially since our cars a pretty new and have clean oil. Never tried Royal Purple, but heard its pretty good and expensive ($6-9 a quart). Good luck!

I have changed my oil with Mobil 1 10w30 (Exactly 5 quarts) and used the OEM oil filter ($6.50 at the dealership). As stated above it's up to you on the oil filter choices. After market oil filters will cost from $5-$9.50. And remember to change the washer for the oil drain plug. Cost about $0.33 cents from the dealer.

ahh.. just got done. I've used up all 5 quarts of Mobile 1 synthetic oil and the filter I used was also by mobile one. It was quick and painless. almost died in the process cuz the stock jack gave in. I think I've gained about 23 Hp from using synthetic oil. might have change out the oil cap with nismo for a few more horses.

Doh!! Make sure you get some jack stands. I would NEVER go under a car being held by only a jack. I don't care if it's a scissor jack or Snapon hydrolic jack

$20.00 for jackstands is a great investment!
