Default Recall Notice - Fuel System

http://www.autobytel.com/content/own...seriesid/32305

Campaign Number: 05V555000 Date: 2005-Dec-13

Component: Fuel System, Gasoline

Defect Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE FUEL FILLER HOSE MAY CRACK FROM EXPOSURE TO OZONE. FUEL LEAKAGE FROM THE HOSE WHILE REFUELING COULD ALSO OCCUR.

Consequence Summary: FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Corrective Summary: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILLER HOSE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON FEBRUARY 13, 2006. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261 OR INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.

This is for 04 350Z, not 05 or 03. I wonder if there is recall for 05s.

Thanks. This will be the first 350Z recall (if in fact it does apply to the 350Z). I expect to see more details from Nissan later.

Does anyone know what all this involves? How about a "do-it-yourself" project? I fear taking vehicles to dealerships & I work for one, in sales. Over the years I have seen to many nightmares happen back there. I am willing to put the time & agony into the repair. That way I can make sure nothing is dented, scratched, breathed on wrong, etc...Any help would be appreciated! Ciao & see some of you @ 06 ZDAYZ

I would not do it myself. Here is the recall link info from Nissan. You can do it yourself but, it will be a pain.

guys
take a look at the recall sticky on the top of the page
also nissan has recalls on 90% of their vehicles now because of the bad rubber. they also have to recall maximas and altimas for a bad aluminum strut brace.

Check out the sticky at the top of the forum. This recall is for a specific VIN range, so it may not affect you.
