The technosquare route just seems so much more difficult and you risk getting a CEL if you don't do it right.

My car is in the shop. It's getting a new, tranny, flywheel and clutch. I bought the car used. I just want to reset the ECU because I have read lots of threads stating that the ECu adapts to driving styles. Since the car is used I want the car to adapt to my driving habits.

Do you think the engineers would have designed something like this into the ECU if it were not the proper way to do it? A half trained monkey could turn the ignition a few times and pump the gas pedal in sequence. God forbid you screw up, you might have to start over and do it again. It takes all of a minute to complete and doesn't reset your head unit in the process. It also doesn't require popping the hood, using tools, or waiting. To each their own.
