Who's gone from a Twin Turbo to a 350Z?
Me for one. Do you miss the power from your Twin Turbo?
My Z was a stage 3 TT that dyno'ed 313RWHP. That car was damn fast too. And it handled great.
Now that I've had my 350Z for a few months, I can say that this car is fast but I know there are faster out there. But this car out-handles the Twin Turbo to no end. Fast corners in the 350Z are awesome!
The only thing I am not totally pleased with is the power in my 350Z. Don't get me wrong, the power is more than adequate. Sometimes, I just miss the power in the Twin Turbo, being able to run away from just about any other car on the road. I'll leave out the bike stories since I got blown away by a Ducati 996 my friend has, hehe.
I read there is an FI kit in another post that will take the power up considerably. This guy (z461) says "Keep your 5 grand and wait for the FI kits coming out later this year. You'll have your 350-380HP Z instead WITH Reliability."
Is there any more information available on this?

I did the same......coming from two Twin Turbo Z32's. One at Stage 3 + pulley and testpipes and I feel the same way.....the Z needs more power. It is more well rounded then the Z and more fun to me to drive, but I liked walking cars on the highway without issue.
The forced induction options are coming....Stillen is a few months out with their supercharger and a few others are on the horizon. By this time next year....their will be tons of options...Single turbo, supercharger, twin turbo...blah blah blah.
I'm hoping for a single turbo, but will probably wait and go with whatever is warrantied (if it happens) otherwise I will wait a year and let some ppl guinea pig it while I get suspension ready and put some meat out back that can handle it....then I'll go get blown.

Same here! Coming from a 92TT with about 350 RWHP I really miss the blast of acceleration the turbo gives. As others have mentioned the Z32 car doesn't handle as well in the twisties, but it didn't porpose on cement hiways either. Every time I got into the Z32TT, it was exciting. The anticipation similar to buckling up in a roller coaster ride with a grin ear to ear. I don't get that with the Z33. A carnival ride everytime I turned on the ignition.
I love Z33, don't get me wrong, but I have this feeling that something is missing. I think I enjoyed driving the Z32TT more around town. I loved the sound of turbo whining as you shifted through the gears. The Z32 Turbo was much more "tune-able". Upgrade the system a little at a time like add an exhaust, intake, turbos, larger intercoolers, electronics and there was all kinds of fun to be had.
The z33 seems almost enemic in comparison. Yes, I plan to upgrade the exhaust and whatever else I can to get a few more HP, but adding turbos to a NA car is just not in the cards for me. Once you have installed low compression pistons, changed the gearing in the trans and rear end (will the trans take the addional hp?) upgrade the injectors and fuel pump, change out the ECU, add intercoolers, fuel managment electronic and boost control, etc., you are heavy in the bucks with a system that is not system engineered and resale the value is suspect.
Yes I am happy with my Z33 as a nice commuter car and fun weekend get away car. The Z33 reliable unlike my Z32 in its later days when the stock plastic electrical connectors deteriorated) and sexy to look at too.
In reality the Z33 is not a Lion hunter like the Z32TT, I don't think I will be REALLY happy until Nissan comes out with a Z33TT.

I'll agree with most of the above. I had a '94 Stage IV+ TT putting 320 to the wheels, and the Z33 just doesn't have the oomph (yet) that my Z32 did. I bought the Z33 knowing this, so I haven't been dissapointed. Modding was never a question for me. It will be done. My problem now is that my Z32 was a weekend car. My Z33 is my only car now, so I can't be as cavalier with the mods as I was before.
Turbos will definatly happen once they are proven safe for the VG. Since this is my only car, I would rather someone else finds out if there are any real problems with FI on this motor.
The lack of go fast is definatly cancelled out by the fact that the Z33 stock out handles my modified Z32. Its eaiser to drive faster, and has much more potential.
It seems like all I ever do for this car is wait. I waited for 8 months to get it after ordering, and now I'm waiting for the aftermarket to mature. The waiting is the hardest part.

Me too . . . stock '93 Pearl TT to Brickyard Z33. I also miss the turbo whine and sudden acceleration. But I think we are wrong, at least with regard to stock z32 TT, that the turbo was faster than the Z33. Everything I have read about 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times shows the z33 very close, if not faster than the TT. And I think my z33 gets to top speed faster than the TT. It looks waaaay better and handles waaaaay better. I won't mod this car, at least until it is probably 6-7 years old, if I still care by then. There is always the possibility of a trade up in the future, but overall, I'd definitely take the z33 over the TT if offered either. I'd love to drive my old TT now to really be able to the tell the difference. But, I'm in new love; that old ***** is dead, no matter how big her knockers were.

Michael.
I still have my 90TT Stage 5 . I love both the cars. But I will never get rid of my Twin thats my favorite of the two.. And I Leased my 350 just in case they come out with a Turbo version later on.
I have a Stage III Z32 as well, but its a whimpy NA (automatic!).
I loved my 300Z. White (not-pearl) SMZ front spoiler, turbo lip in the back, JL stealthbox, MB Quarts all around.
It wasn't too embarassing as far as performce -- with intake/exhaust/JWT ECU and HKS ALC2, I was able to manage a 14.8 at palmdale. Factor in the elevation and its not too bad a comparison to the stock TT.
I need to detail her soon and put her up for sale -- sorry to see her go, but I have another "lady" in my life now with 287 horses in her stable.

My 1991 silver 300ZXTT ran 13.2 at 107mph on crappy tires. What a rush. I ordered a CS Track 350Z knowing full well that the car was much slower than my Z32TT, but also with the intention of dropping a pair of turbos on my new Z33. There's nothing like the sound of turbos spooling up, then hearing the blowoff valves blast out the excess boost between shifts. If Nissan takes any longer to ship my Z33, I'm gonna end up with a twin turbo kit in my garage before the car arrives!
I also went from a 90tt (which was slightly moded) to a 350Z and I do miss the power and all. However, I don't miss the breaks in my old Z. That's the reason I opted to go with the brembos this time around. Anyone else feel the same way about the break system on their previous twin turbo Z's?
The Z32TT brakes were definitely the weak link in the car. I raced my car on the track several times and my brakes would fade pretty quickly. Can't do any serious track time in a Z32 without a brake upgrade. My friend's Z32TT had brake failure on the track and he ended up flying off the track because he couldn't stop! I was watching him at the time and was wondering what the hell he was doing driving across the infield of the track. That's one reason why I ordered a Track 350Z. I plan on doing some road racing and know that you can never have too much brake power...

Once a boost-aholic, always a boost-aholic.
Below is my plate when I had my 91TT.
I'll be looking into the options, what did/will you get?
I need to sell a car that I don't have room for anymore. It's a 1989 IROC-Z with a fresh 350TPI and transmission, awesome suspension setup, full header exhaust, big stereo. Nice car, but now it's outside and GMs paint was thin on these from the beginning. The paint on the roof is now starting to crack and flake off so I've got to fix it or sell it. That should pretty much pay for the 350Z upgrade.
I guess I've got a plan!
Anybody wanna buy a nice IROC? email me if you know someone but please don't post about the IROC here.
Come on, help a cause!
Here's a picture of the IROC.
Let's see, what was that link for e-bay? hehe

Well I had a Modded Eclipse GSX that ran a best of 13.01@110 and now I have a Perf DB Z.. And I am happy to move to a high quality car that turns sooo many heads its not even funny.. Ya it may be a bit slower but the torque is always there, I can get close to 30 Mpg on the highway and its quiet with no wind noise.. I am not sure how you can complain about the power, you obviously knew what you wee buying - I think the looks and the quality factor far outweighs the little bit of missing power, and really how often you you people drive like fools? You people act like you have the pedal mashed everytime you drive? I don't know where you live but in the Boston area there are cops everywhere and traffic 18+ hours a day!
I love the rush of acceleration as much as the next car fanatic but it seems most people on this board are so consumed with speed and HP that they don't realize how nice of a car the 350Z really is!

Ditto on missing the boost feeling. I previously had a 94 NA and then a 95TT and now I don't miss the breaks, nor the handling I do miss that rush you get when you lay it on and those turbos kick-in. All that being said, my new Z33 is a much better car overall, minus a little of the kick. I can live with that, because like many said we knew this before we got it. Still undecided on FI, will probably come down to money and what I should be spending it on.
I still have some regrets on selling my Z32TT though.
