Default Perparing for storage...

I know that this might sound weird being that summer is coming but I'm deploying. I was just wanting to get some ideas on how to perpare my Z for 4-6 months of storage. My wife hopefully will start it up once a week and drive it around the block. Anyhow... any suggestions will be helpful.

don't let your wife drive it honestly, if she is going to start and drive the vehicle then you have no worries...as long as there is fresh gas in it then it should be fine...

if she does not want to deal with it then pull the battery out, drain the gas tank and coolant system, remove all the hydraulic fluid(brakes, power steering, A/T fluid if applicable).....about the only liquid to leave in would be oil, and then change it immediatly upon return....

Where r u deploying to ??

I'm headed to Iraq... I feel fine if she drives it. No worries there.

i think that's overkill. I'm not clear on why you'd want to drain all the hydraulics?!

I took my car off the road for the winter and just threw it up on some jackstands, pulled the battery, fresh oil change, and made sure there was very little gas. up in New England, we have to watch out for furry little cretures making nests under the hood though. Give them some "special" treats on the floor of your storage area.

5 months later, threw the battery back in, took it off the jackstands, turned the key, started up (and runs) just like on day 1.

Only because still hydraulic fluid has a tendancy to corrode seals, it did on my '79, '86 and '95 tt, I had to store them all for over 6 mos.(Marines)and once I started driving them again it was like a soaker hose, i was a seal replacing fool....I have only had my 350 for a month so new technology looks to make storage easier on cars if you stored yours(CajunStyle) and had no issues......not for nothing, but when it comes to my car I am a lil overkill..could just be me

Well worst case I'll have a fellow 350 and/or Evo buddy come by and check on it. I have to agree on the seal breaking down. Want to have the fluids moving and not just sitting.
BTW: USAF 2nd deployment 1st was in 2000 to Kuwait.

Just leave it with a fairly low tank of gas and have her take it around the block every once in a while. Leave little enough gas that she'll need to refill it mid-stretch.
