Default Planning Trip to California - Help with Events?

Hi from England,

I will be in San Francisco for the weekend of 27th & 28th of May and in LA for the weekend of 3rd and 4th June. I would really like to see some Import Drag Racing or Import Shows etc. Can anyone recomend events for these 2 weekends. Any suggestions welcome for absolutely anything motor related.

BTW I'll be in Vegas between these dates so any events there also welcome.

PS: Will also pop in to Status Auto Design to see Rick and the guys.

Thanks
Kevin

You might want to check out California Speedway. They don't have a schedule posted on their website but they might have street legal drag races during that time. Open to anyone who wants to drag or watch. They have a number u can call, maybe they will let you know whether something will be happening that week. Oh btw its located in the city of Fontana. Maybe about 40 min from LA, 2 minutes from where I live =). http://www.californiaspeedway.com/tr...niaDragway.jsp

Post up a reply again when you get this so I get a thread update email in my box.

I'll check my calendar when I get back home, I do media coverage for some venues so I'll tell you if anything is going on.

But from what I remember, nothing really is going on during that time

Doh! To truely experience the California tuning revolution, you may want to visit Southern California. No one is really left up here for the sport compact industry because operating expenses are so expensive up here.

A drive about 5 hours south of San Francisco will lead you to a whole new world

+1 I agree with your last statement. Move down to LA lol. To the original poster if you came here last weekend they had the Long Beach Gran Prix. You can also see Irvindale Speedway if you wanna see some drifting action. Also California Speedway for drag racing. And if you are up for it, take your car down to the Streets of Willow and have yourself a nice fun safe track day. Welcome to CA.

Try this sandwich shop called Guillianos? (Redondo Beach) (spelling Im not sure about) And you have to try Shakeys Pizza on Arbor Vitae Rd, between La Cienega Bl and Aviation, in Inglewood. (Try the chorizo and pepperoni pizza).tell me what you think.

Also, while you are in San Francisco, go to this other sandwhich place called "Vikings Giant Subs" I believe. They are located on Lombard Street, any Taxi driver should be know the place. Make sure you go to the Lombard street location, they have two in San Francisco. The other one is on Ocean Avenue but I don't think it is as good as the original place on Lombard.

They make awesome sandwhiches and have been the talk of the town. They have been in various newspapers and magazine reviews! It is one of those hole in the wall places, but oddly enough, those kind of places usually have the best food!

Has anyone been to these events and would you recommend them?

Well Nascar is a differant type of racing, it is an endurance grip race.

They basically run around an oval track at high speeds for a preset amount of laps such as 500 or something like that.

I say if you are a true motorsports fan, go and experience it!
