Instrument Lights -- Always On?

Instrument Lights -- Always On?
I assume this is so the LCD instruments can be seen easily during the day, correct?

I cant recall if you can turn the rheostadt down far enough to turn the illumination completely OFF. Can you?

I think the rheostat adjust the night time brightness (headlights on), they are full intensity during the day so you can see them.

Considering the average lifespan of a LED is 100,000 hours, I'd say it won't be any time soon.
