The "flame thrower" effect is done by cutting the power to your spark plugs so the unburnt gas flows out thru the exhaust then the spark plug in your tail pipe ignites the gas vapor causing the flame.

It won't work on cars with catalytic convertors like the Z unless you remove them.

Oh, prepare to get flamed (no pun intended) for suggesting doing it to your Z.

I think it looks cool too, but I don't think it would be safe to do with all that plastic bumper.

i think that most of the people that do have flames coming out of their exhaust werent aiming just to do that, its more of a thing that happens cause it happens, not a thing that happens cause i want it to happen.

An over reved turbo can shoot out flames from the exaust. Thats why you see wrx's, supras and other turboed vehicles doing this.

Ok well i once had a rx7 and this happends when ever your reving the motor and let off the gas and then all the extra gas that did not burn off reaches the end of the exhause it creats a flame...and a very loud "bang"....

if you run enough gas then any one can do it.....

get alot of breathing mods for absolute non air constriction. Get headers, testpipes, exhaust, cams, spacer, etc. I used to shoot flames when i had straight flowing test pipes but it was too loud/ricey and so i decided to buy HFC.
