What color is this, a dealership just told me it is the only Enthusiast they have, I searched and didn't find anything. It is a 2006
It is a metalic black. Nice color. The flakes are darker flakes, or maybe that's just them picking up black from the base, but I like it better than the "Super Black" I had on my Maxima. I don't recall it being called MB "Pearl", but hey, I don't pay too close attention to the flowery paint color terms auto manufacturers choose, lol.
The paint is called Magnetic Black. It is a 2 tone pearl. It is black with red and blue flakes, when the sun hits it directly it lights up. At night it's as black as it gets.
I've gotten a couple of complements on the paint by non-Z owners. Some actually thougt it was custom.
I love my MB Roadster,

My 2006 is a Magnetic Black. I don't know a lot about paint terminology so I'm not sure what the 'Pearl' designation means. I am guessing it has to do with the metallic flake. Anyways, to me it looks like a black paint with metallic flake. No grey tones here. And as far as keeping it clean (because I read your other thread about this); Yes, it will take some effort. Personally I don't care how dirty it gets...I refuse to wash it more than once a week.
Overall I do like the color. Unfortunately I don't have any close-up pictures to share.

I saw a MB in person for the first time this past weekend. Up close in the sun, it looks more like a dark charcoal than a pure black (if that makes any sense). Personally, I didn't like the multicolor appearance to it. It seemed to make the car so much "brighter" than a pure black. I actually heard somebody ask if the Z was a Brickyard because of the colored tint to it.
I had a 1985 300ZXT that was Blue-Black. It was black with a hint of blue metal flake. Even in the bright sun it still looked black. The MB is definitely not like that.
rockinboy - the PPW is considered a pearl, not a metallic like the DB or IF.

My '06 is magnetic black. Rest assured, it is just as black. If it doesn't "feel" as black, it is because you're getting reflection from the metallic in the paint. Being in the auto body shop business, I can say that metallic black is an overall better paint than the super black because it hides dirt, dings, and scratches better than super black. As far as whether u like the looks better or not, that is personal opinion. IMO, I like the metallic a bit better because it is shinier, sparkly, and makes the car look richer and meaner... but its all personal opinion. Bottom Line: Can't go wrong w/ Magnetic Black
